This is definately a case of playing the player

Reads:
He is a typical bad player who bluffs too much and too big.
He slowplays too much and gets too little from his big hands.
Given the green light he will make thin value bets with under pairs.
He floats the flop nearly 100% of the time so, he could easily have 2 over cards that he could bluff on the end or hit.
The 2 on the end is a little trucky but I know that he doesnt cold call my EP raise too light.

Seems perfectly reasonable against this guy, I may have not even cbet the flop and just let him bluff his whole stack away right from the start.

BB had also come along. Besides, he seems to call the flop every time. It also preserves my meta-game

ballsy river check....I keep telling myself to do that to induce bluffs but still too worried that most villans will check behind

Thanks. When checking the turn, my plan was to check the river to regain any lost FD equity. I also knew there was no chance to protect against the FD given his stack.

The 2 really complicated things. I thought that it might induce an underpair to check. I just felt he bluffs overs or FD here enough to follow thru with my original plan.

yeah...often I recognize the spots for a value check on river but then chicken out and bet 2/3 pot and get too many folds anyway...obviously villan dependent and part of the problem is that I am pretty tight...that works both ways...some villans feel that they can run over me which is fine but others will check behind seeking to choose a better spot

You and me both. But it's not just image. Does this sound familiar? Wow, if only I knew he played this bad when we played that hand 2 orbits ago after I first moved here. Next time I know better then... table change, or bad player gets stacked by another, or blinds go up and play is all preflop.

The trouble is that most online trny's don't allow for playing the player. Just not enough information or time and you stick to the standard line. The deepstack trny's are really great for playing the player. Very few table changes. You play with the same people for hours and get great reads. The deep stacks give enough room for the donks huge swings to let them stick around longer. I saw this villain go from short to avg to short, maybe 3 times over 2 hours before I finally got my shot and I was ready with a plan.

I love the deepstack trny with the 5K stacks and 30 min. levels. Hell, you can even pattern trap which usually only works in live cash games. People complain about how long they take and $/hr but I bet my ROI is 10x over the 1500 stk 15 min lvl trny.
