Assuming you have an accumulative edge in the freezeout period, you will by all likelihood be able to accumulate more chips faster and avoid early bustouts, the bigger stack you have. Taking marginally -cEV gambles at starting stack can therefore be +$EV compared to nitting it up, as you have a higher overall sum of cEV in the rebuy period with a gamble strategy.
The question is if the increased equity exceeds the cost of gambling in the rebuy period, which of course comes down to your edge on the field, blind structure, size of the field, etc. I would be very interested in gambling in a 10r with 1900 droolers and 100 good players, but would probably be a lot more conservative in a late 100r with 80 good regs and 20 bad ones.
