Thanks guys!

It's nice to see Brazil lose, but to lose in a slaughter. Nice, think I'm a little stiff.

Yeah love having WC games on the in the background while i grind. Had to switch back to music at the half.

I'm out but at least I contributed to bones' stack in the process!

You guys playing the Main Event, do you guys usually swap action or sell? Or are you ballers and 100% backed by yourself?
I'm probably atypical - I don't play for a living or even all that often these days. I won the seat + expenses and sold off most of it.

gg Beero. Bones still in?

Bagged up 83k going to day 3. Beero's "contribution" was a pretty big cooler spot, but was fun getting to play w him. Think Pudge, deuce2high, mjc, manchild, and a few others from here are also going to day 3.

Painful to watch Holland play such mediocre strategy.

If you are going to play tactical offensively and not be aggressive you need to take shots further back from goal. Sure, you open yourselves up to counters but you need to do something vs getting into a penalty match.

Pretty lame for Holland, they deserved to lose though with poor coaching. No clue who develops the game plans but you need to adjust at half point.

Pretty embarrassing strategy. Took all the way until overtime for them to do anything even remotely right.

How is it a poor strategy?
Nothing wrong with the strategy, it was just on the one hand very poorly executed by the midfield and on the other hand well neutralized by Argentina.
This strategy is what got us this far in the first place.
Terrible match to watch if you like football, but if they prevented Argentina from scoring, which no other squad did this tourney and you just cannot win when you're not efficient with the few 100% chances you get, in this case the one from Robben in the final minute of regular time.
This Dutch quad is defensively not strong enough to play a more offensive tactic with fewer defenders against the strong nations, so you have to play the strategy that is optimal for the given skill sets of the players and that has worked throughout the tourney and got us this far.

The only poor strategy was the order of penalty kick takers.
They now had 4 very experienced takers (Kuyt, Robben, Sneijder and Huntelaar) and one of a lower penalty skill level.
In that case you should put the weakest player last, despite the potential pressure peak, as there is a reasonable chance the series doesnt go to 5 shots.

It's the same in the shootout in hockey. Makes no sense when coaches don't frontload.

Does anybody know if there's a way to game select mtts Like an algorithm or script that recognises x colour code = weighted point, y colour code = different weighted point and adds them all up and tells you how much value it is ?

Who's reporting the WSOP standings this year?
07-10-2014 , 06:03 PM
Think WSOP.com usually has a monopoly on liveupdates. Im not active on twitter but I assume searching different hashtags could find you people updating Big stacks and known players.
07-10-2014 , 06:32 PM
yea wsop.com has been pretty solid with chip counts and updates imo

I'm with you to an extent, that the strategy was good until the shootout, but I can't quite get 100% behind it.

They had plenty of good medium-long range shot opportunities and passed to tactically move the ball, to try and move the ball forward, instead, ended up getting it a bit forward just to lose a million times from a poor pass. Clearly not passing good, time to shoot them long.

Regardless, I don't want to discuss the game further. Just enjoyed watching Holland do something in the sports world outside of skating.

@pokerstars players, curious on average, how many refunds you guys get a year from cheaters.

I'm up to 4 this year.

Didn't the Dutch coach blame the players for the ordering? :P

I thought I read that he tried to put two others in front but they both declined to go first so he was stuck with what he had.

EDIT: Yay Navas!

They first approached two other players, but they declined due to the pressure upon which he (Vlaar) didn't want to shy away from responsibility when he was then asked.

I didnt read that the players themselves picked the ordering after the 5 names were picked, but still the coach is end responsible for optimizing strat, which was clearly wrong here.
You cannot expect the players themselves to take the optimal decision strat wise as that is not where their focus is, they will only go with what feels right for them I guess.

Still these guys face tons of pressure so agreeing to take a penalty at that stage of a tournament is already worth a compliment.

I still remember how god awful I felt in my youth when 2 matches before season end we were 1 point behind the number 1 and got a penalty 5mins before the end of the match when playing them. I was about 14 years old and the league level was quite high. I was the coach fav player even though I was far from the best, but he put me central midfield all season because of my passing ability and clear overview. So when we got the penalty he wanted me to take it despite other team mates prefering another player. I failed miserably by hitting the post and still remember how much pressure I felt at that moment when getting behind the ball.
felt so bad after that match for many days.

Seems you were right AMT, players decided on the starting order and since noone seemed to want the pressure of going first Vlaar stepped up.
