2 weeks of bad beats 2 weeks of bad beats

02-17-2012 , 12:22 AM
I have played around 25 tournaments over the last couple of weeks and i have been experiencing some very frustrating beats,
e.g I raise utg+3 with AJs and get 2 callers, the flop comes KQ10 rainbow so i check and the next guy shoves other one folds so i call. He shows 77, the turn comes a 7 and the river a Q to give him a full house!
I have Aj on the BB, guy in the cut off limps and sb calls, i check not wanting to play out of position if i raise and miss, the flop come AK6 rainbow sb checks i check and the villain bets pot, sb folds and i re raise, he shoves and i call he shows Q9 of clubs and of course gets running flush.
now this is just two of the 22 all ins i have lost when i have gone in with the best hand. it seems that no matter what i do i cant win best hand or not.
should i stop playing online or does the same thing happen live just as much??

Welcome to the world of negative variance. This happens to everyone (or at least both of us). All you can do is focus on your decision making process (and hope to run better in the future).

I guess you're onetabling then, vul.

the more average you are, the higher your variance.

If you get in your money good, you will get sucked out eventually. Try to get it in dominated and suck out on them!

it sucks to be sucked out.

play more tables at once and according to your tru bankroll, it eases up the pain of variance.

oh yeah, and mad volume bro!

No it doesn't .. It just get you less on tilt at that exact moment, because you have to keep on clicking and playing your game.
If you are 15-20 tabling, and you can't afford to think about the bad beats, that's maybe why I WANT to play this many tables...

There is actually a border to everyone's patience. If you get 8 bad beats on 20 tables, and I go out on 8 occasions because of that, I ruin my entire session.
With some other, it'll be after 2 bad beats (OP ), with people who have their ying and their yang on the exact zen side, it can be after 15 bad beats in a row.

Variance is soooo hard you hate poker as much as 50 cent hates the Game.
But do remember:

- you don't win a tournament or final table one, without winning 90% of your coinflips
-you don't win a tournament or final table one, without sucking out at least once with a 2 or 3-outer
- you don't win a tournament or final table one, without winning a couple of hands with starting hands that are definitely behind of those of our opponents preflop. (f.e. limped pot, you in BB with 94, flop 44x...)

CONCLUSION: variance makes you win a lot of money, variance makes you loose a lot of money

Sooo suckoutaments ftw!

OP:
Please show us a graph of you allin luck...

Does anyone else like to picture what OP might look like when they write this sort of thing?
