Standard, right? Should I have 3-bet pre? Villain was a 22/14 over 50 hands. Thanks in advance.

Im not very good, but I would 3bet pre, bet flop, bet turn, b/c river.

Flatting preflop is fine, this guy's raising range is big, but if we 3bet with this stack size he's gonna fold a ton of hands and get it in with like 88/AQ or w/e. Also BB just folds everything if it goes raise/3bet and keeping him in the pot is pretty valuable. Don't post the results either it skews people's answers too easily

Depends on opponent.

If the CO has a high steal frequency, I like the flat and sneak some value out of a range of hands that would likely fold to a 3-bet.

If the CO has a low steal frequency, I'd be more inclined to 3-bet against a range that is narrower and more likely to get it in PF.

I would definitely 3bet preflop. It's hard to trap somebody out of position, and seeing the flop helps them a lot more than it helps you.

And I think the correct play is to fold the river once he raises. There isn't much a 22/14 player could have other than A4/54s, 56s or 33/77/JJ; QQ or KK isn't totally impossible but seems very unlikely. 700 more on a 3600-chip pot may seem like a must-call, but I think you have almost zero chance of winning after that betting sequence. (Against a 50/25 player or whatever, he could easily have AJ or even JT and you might have to call at that price, but even then I would expect him to have 77 or A4 most of the time.)

Thanks for the responses, everyone. Very helpful. I'll be sure not to include results, even in a spoiler, next time.

Also, villain was stealing pretty frequently from the button and cutoff, which is the main reason for my flat. He was also c-betting a lot, thus my check, which was going to be a check-raise, I hoped.

I'm running through different ways I could have played the hand, and the best way to have avoided the situation would have been to 3-bet pre, but I do wonder about losing value that way, too.

Assuming flatting isn't always bad in this spot, what could I have done differently, otherwise, that might have let me get away from the hand? If I bet the flop, he would've called, if not raised. At that point, I certainly would have smelled the two pair or set rat, but I would have also been salivating over the prospect he too had a nice overpair (TT+), or TPTK, and don't know if I could have gotten away, which is why I'm a fish, lol.

I guess I just don't know how to get away from set-floppers when I have a big overpair this short-stacked, and would love some pointers in that respect. I'm also realizing that I am pretty bad at deceptive lines because my reading isn't where it needs to be to do so, especially against tough TAGs.

Thanks again, everyone.

Nice re-raise for value getting those 5 extra chips No but seriously, flat pre is fine if you know hes aggro, otherwise 3bet. Flop we have to bet if checked to us and jam any turn.
