Ran this through Sit and Go Wiz and it recommended a fold given the games circumstances. However, at the time I decided to complete out of SB. Villian is relatively weak loose, hasn't show much strength. Typical weak passive player. When he bets river know he is strong but was leaning 80/20 on the J.

CO: t4600
BTN: t1870
Hero (SB): t3290
BB: t3740

Pre Flop: (t240) Hero is SB with T Q
2 folds, Hero calls t80, BB checks

Flop: (t320) 5 J 9 (2 players)
Hero bets t175, BB calls t175

Turn: (t670) 8 (2 players)
Hero bets t450, BB calls t450

River: (t1570) J (2 players)
Hero checks, BB bets t1120 Hero.......

When he initially called the flop I felt he was either on a J or FD. However, when he called the turn I didn't think he was that bad to call with just a FD. Figured him for the J. Thus the reason for the river check. I wanted to give him a chance to put his money in.

Options:
1) Call: Safe play given the small possibility of river flush but leave potential chips on the table?

2) Shove over top: Aggressive play since calling leaves us with ~6BB and 2 hands left before we get hit with the blinds?

As always, appreciate it.

Completing or raising pf is fine vs a weak/passive.

Flop is good

Turn is good

I like check/fold, we just have so many better spots and a healthy stack. Check/call if he bets a bit less.

Shoving over the top would be pretty bad.

I'd call here. He has the jack often enough imo

Call. I think rex is correct. Most of the time he will have the J. You also have the added bonus of a read (that is that you don't think he is a bad enough player to be calling the turn with a FD).

ez call.. i highly doubt hes shoving into you with a boat..imo hed put abet out there, not shove... and im sure the range of hands he is shoving with you beat enough times (i.e. J/9)to make it a profitable call even if he may have a flush here

Yeah, we have more than I thought we have if we call. I misread the stack sizes. Call.

Given our read, is shoving here never an option b/c we would still have a descent stack, albeit an akward one after just a call, and the BTN is the shortie?

That's a big bet for a naked jack. I'd just call because I don't think I'm ahead as often as you seem to.
