Tournament had just begun, about a dozen hands in so not much of a read on anyone.

Full Tilt Poker Game #14131587532: $2 + 0.25 Sit & Go (104080811), Table 1 - 20/40 - No Limit Hold'em

MP1 (t1440)
MP2 (t1555)
CO (t1590)
Hero (Button) (t1425)
SB (t1355)
BB (t3480)
UTG (t2655)

Hero's M: 23.75

Preflop: Hero is Button with 10, 10
3 folds, CO bets t120, Hero calls t120, 2 folds

Flop: (t300) 3, 6, 9 (2 players)
CO bets t80, Hero raises to t600, CO calls t520

[My thought process here (a) I have a heart (though not a great one), (b) I've still got a pair that beats the board and (b) a double-pot-sized bet would give anyone looking for a fourth heart improper odds.]

Turn: (t1500) 5 (2 players)
CO checks, Hero bets t705 (All-In), CO calls t705

River: (t2910) 5 (2 players, 1 all-in)

Total pot: t2910

NO need to raise soo much on the flop.

If i raised to say 240 or 300 and opponent calls. I can feel comfortable checking the turn and reassessing any river bets.

Your betting on turn is pretty much a bluff because most (if not all) hands that call you will have you crushed. But you still have a relatively strong hand with little number of rivers to fear - so i check even with you overbet.

we cant say we raise every riverbet as this is the situation on the flop, and it depends on the turncard as well.
raise less flop and PLEASE raise PREFLOP??!?!??! this is the worst imo..

check/call pretty much both turn/riv

I think you answered your own question: you made the right bet that anyone on the draw should get out. That he called tells you what you need to know, he's already made his hand. My guess would be 2 hearts or trip 9's?

My suggestion is that at those stack sizes, you don't need the over-bet to find out what you need to know. 1/2 or 2/3 is plenty and you protect your stack.

OK, thanks all.

I've seen much advice about limping with pairs preflop but clearly there's a difference between "small" and "medium" pp. Where is this line?

Thanks,
bodhi

Flatting PF is fine. Your Flop raise is too large. Facing that kind of small CB on this board I'm definitely confident in my hand and would be raising to t300/calling AI for value, and shoving pretty much any Turn if just flatted (maybe not an overcard hitting, hard to say, but probably still).

Preflop: Flatting or 3betting are both good. Normally I flat here because I'm not quite ready to play for stacks at this point but if villain has been active I would be 3betting.

Flop: I like the raise since we have a made hand and an OK draw but I would raise to a lot less than 2x the pot.

Turn: Check behind...he is only calling this shove with better.

River: Time to soul read, the board pairing was a fairly bad outcome but not terrible, as you were potentially already behind and really only fell behind 66 or 99 at this point.
