Hero is chipleading by a few big blinds. Probably 18bb or something

top 2 gets spot to a tourney which is $1850 value or something and third get $850

Villain 3bet hero once OTB 2.1x when i opened on the CO 5 handed and folded to a 4bet.

I open AQ on the cut off. Villain shoves for like 15bb. Big blind has like 12big blind

shortest stack on the table has around 10-12bb so stacks are very very close.

What is my calling range here? I am left with 2-3bb if i lose the all in but I am gauranteed a seat if i win this.

sorry, villain shoves on the button with SB having 12bb and BB having 10BB.

When you say you 'opened' does that mean limped? I assume BB folded? Doesn't make much difference. I'm never calling here. Even though you are not representing a big hand if you limped in, or even put out a min. raise from CO, villain is seldom risking his tournament life here without a hand that has us dominated or at best that we're flipping with. Keep the chip lead and wait for better spot.

This should always be a shove pre flop, not an open. If we are raise/folding AQ, then we may as well be opening 72o here. By shoving, we not only avoid losing the pot by possibly raise/folding the best hand, but we could also potentially make our opponents fold stronger hands than the one we are holding with the current ICM considerations. As played, I would probably fold anything but QQ+, possibly JJ as well. You really put yourself in a tough spot by just opening. You allow your opponents an opportunity to put you in a tough ICM spot. Just make things easier on yourself and shove pre.

ya open as in i raised preflop. I am really not sure how to play satties properly with ICM and these shallow 10-15bb stacks in late stages :/

Open shove. Probably r/f as played. Raising is not turning it into 72o here though, as you probably get flat called some live.

Easy shove, raise/fold is terrible. I'd raise/call KK+ here and not very happy calling with KK

i'm very happy calling with KK
having a r/f range with 10BB effective is hilarious
but fgs shove pre. you has 10BB effective late in a sat. unless you're playing some oldsilveresque r/f strat opening 40-50% on a ridiculously tight FT where people 3bj JJ+AK and fold eeeeverything else...just shove.

Just another +1 for shoving. Easy to but don't over think it...
