I haven't played MTTs in over a decade, so be easy on me, please.

What is a raise/call range for this sizing? Underweigh KK+ for Villain, right?

Winning Poker, Hold'em No Limit - 150/300 (35 ante) - 9 players
Hand delivered by CardsChat

UTG (Hero): 8,942 (30 bb)
UTG+1: 5,949 (20 bb)
MP: 6,275 (21 bb)
MP+1: 5,995 (20 bb)
LP: 11,095 (37 bb)
CO: 17,359 (58 bb)
BU: 17,304 (58 bb)
SB: 11,909 (40 bb)
BB: 22,036 (73 bb)

Pre-Flop: (765) Hero is UTG with Q A
Hero raises to 666, 2 players fold, MP+1 3-bets to 5,960 (all-in), 5 players fold, Hero calls 5,294

Pretty villian dependant spot. vs massive nits its a prob a snap fold. vs others it may be a call.

Against an unknown opponent this might be a fold

So borderline. Unknown players aren't shoving 20bb over a utg open very lightly - maybe 99+/AQ+...not sure if we can include AJs here. Close but I would fold.

i'd rather wait for a better spot... most players these days aren't jamming into a UTG raiser with worse than AQ... best case scenario you're flipping.

so yea like theagent77 said... fold unless u have a good read on the jammer

No. Best case scenario is AJ/AT/KQ. It's fringy but I can have the best hand. I just don't know if it's often enough.

My thoughts almost exactly before I called, but then I thought, no way has KK+, right?

Why do you say villain can't have KK+? I think many players get nervous when it comes to play monsters

Fair. No way was hyperbole. Should've said I underweigh it here, to be clear.

He had tens. I didn't get there. Hated the call right before his cards flipped even though I wasn't in bad shape.

Weighing ranges is hard for me with these slight overshoves. I wanna say they're narrow necause theyre big but this wasn't an unreasonable shove and when I think a Villain is playing AK the same as AJ the same as 88 the same as 22 and maybe ATs/KQ (?) for that many chips, I freeze up.

I think position matters a lot here. People are trained to shove a bunch in LP/blinds but don't know what to do in MP vs UTG so I think villain's range skews tight. I also think people assume a really tight opening range from utg. I play these stakes a lot on acr and i'd say it's usually 1010+ and i don't expect to see much AQo or AJs. Fold for me.

Villain's position versus mine was what I confessedly did not consider enough.

Question: is Villain then folding 88/AQ? He can't flat.

I think it's probably a combination of calls and folds with like 5% chance of a shove with those hands. People flat pre so much these days but your 2.2x gets a lot more folds than a 2x min open would. I don't think the 20bb villain stack means they can't call. 17bbs yeah but I think you will still see a decent amount of calls because people don't know what to do in MP v UTG opens with these stack sizes.
