Hey

As the title says, first hand of the tourney. I think AKs is a raise here even this early and even when OOP and expecting to likely get called in one spot (prob should have raised more), but would still be interested if anyone thinks differently. Not the greatest flop, but I think I should still c-bet as I can still be ahead of a lot of hands in his limp-call range. I would have shut it down unimproved on the turn if called. Turn is a value bet now that I liekly have the best hand and I don't want to give a free card to the draws out there. I likely would have folded to a raise. On the river even though the flush came in, I think it's unlikely that he had the backdoor flush draw and I can go for somewhat thin value as a set would have likely raised me on an earlier street. Wasn't thrilled about the min-raise but thought it still necessary to call.

Happy to know peoples thoughts.

Cheers

I think you played it fine, I probably would've made it 110 pre with 2 limpers but that's probaly being a bit pedantic.

I'd usually make it 70-80 pre in this spot. We're not raising to win the 50 chips or whatever trivial amount is sitting in the middle preflop, so we shouldn't raise huge and just make everyone fold. I also don't think you're betting for "thin value", as you say, on the end with top 2 - that's not thin at all. I'd start to get concerned if I got raised after betting the river, but I'd still be calling readless - the hands that beat us aren't really that likely. I'm guessing you were beat or you wouldn't have started the thread, but I think you played it fine.

One thing I have been working on lately is getting my cbet% optimal, I found it was too high and was leaking chips. Don't expect a high success rate cbetting this flop vs a mp1 limper. It hits his range.. ie: connectors, Ax and JT, QJ are all calling. Before cbetting ask yourself 'what hands am I trying to fold out' ask yourself this in this spot... I dont see too many hands folding OTF.

I find around 75% cbet is good, as I am usually IP flops that I don't cbet I 'delay' cbet, as any villian who checks twice has nothing and is likely folding.

No, I took the pot on this hand. Villian had A9o for a lower two pair.
