Full Tilt Poker $10 + $1 Rebuy No Limit Hold'em Tournament - t300/t600 Blinds + t75 - 8 players
The Official 2+2 Hand Converter Powered By DeucesCracked.com

BTN: t14925
SB: t21290
BB: t15495
UTG: t27304
UTG+1: t24855
MP1: t12390
Hero (MP2): t17385
CO: t19785

Pre Flop: (t1500) Hero is MP2 with A T
UTG calls t600, UTG+1 calls t600, 1 fold, Hero raises to t3000, 5 folds, UTG+1 calls t2400

Flop: (t8100) K 8 A (2 players)
UTG+1 bets t21780 all in, Hero ???

There are fifteen people left, top nine get paid. I am in ninth place before the start of this hand.

Both UTG and UTG+1 are chronic high-blind limpers. both of them have shown down Ace rag offsuit and low pair type hands after limping in early position in the last two blind levels. This is, however, the first time I've seen UTG+1 pull this donk-shove move on the flop.

two questions I guess: was my preflop raise reckless or too big? and, more importantly, what the hell do I do now? fistpump? instafold?

No I like the fact that you picked up on the Limpy-Limpertons and you are making them pay. Strong play, (just as long as you dont over-do it). The raise size is good.

Man that is a tough spot, but i would have to call, the only hand i could see him having that beats you (and doesnt check raise) is K8 and i doubt he has something like that. I think A8,AK, 88 will check raise, and KK & AA would reraise pre. So call it and hope he doesnt spike his two pair.

i dont have the slightest clue, but when i dont have the slightest clue, i call.

i think you can see 88 or AJ here with some regularity, i cant forsee a lot of worse aces...but who knows, people are terrible.

I totally forgot about AQ & AJ. I still cant see villian value shoving much here. You are either WAY ahead or crushed.

AQ? AJ?

Looks like a stop n Go to me, would villian do that with the best hand? Bet size looks like he wants you to fold. On the other hand, maybe that's what he wants you to think...

Plus, it could also be big stack push people around on the bubble syndrome (BSPPABS)

On the other hand, I see a lot of laying down top pair/marginal kicker to all in (LDTPMKAIS), by some fairly decent (afaik) players, and he is the big stack.

2 pair, I call without much thought, here...?

Metagame-wise, calling would send a message that you won't be pushed around, but you would probably be spending equity now to gain it in the future.

Regards

Based on your read, the likeliest hand he has (that beats you) is A8, maaaaaybe AJ. I just don't see 88 or big A's doing this. I suppose it's possible he slow-played AA or KK but checking pretty much assures he'll get all or most of your stack, so why shove? I think I would call, given the reads, and would not be at all surprised to see something like KJ, KQ, or A9.

with your stack size you should not be raising here. call or fold pre

I hate ATo with a passion, so I probably would fold pre-flop.

As played this is an absolutely GROSS spot.

The pot is about 6 grand, and he effectively bet 14 grand (your remaining stack) into it.

While this doesn't seem like the best play to make if he has AK, AQ, A8, or 88... it also seems like a TERRIBLE flop to "bluff" at, and not even a very good flop to bet something like KQ on.

My gut says you won't like what you see if you call.
