Just to update. In my last post I mentioned my $100 husng table disappearing. Got an email back from support apologizing and they credited my acct $200. Works for me. Feel free to glitch away all my sngs!

The only reason i think they would even cap a tournament this week at 200 and then capping next wk tournament at 400 would be that their software/servers can't handle a larger tournament field. Which is not an excuse.

Hey Dax or Scotty does the $1000 nightly have a tournament cap also?
05-05-2013 , 10:42 PM
Playing the nightly tonight.
Tried to sign up for the $100 and guess 120 people registered in the last three hours and I missed out.. lame!

There's so many people in this thread that I wanna play poker with...
05-05-2013 , 11:22 PM
I don't understand all the hate over the cap on the 10k tourney. Obviously, they are just trying to take it slow and try to limit the potential scale of any disaster. The last thing they need is an unforeseen issue crashing a tournament and their entire support staff spending days trying to process refunds and sort it all out.

I do think it was dumb to try and make the big Sunday tournament the "first legal online MTT in the US". If they had not gotten stuck on that idea they could have run some smaller tournaments already and would have had the confidence to take the training wheels off by now.

The pay scale looks really flat.

I don't mind that 19-27th just get just their buy in back but what I like about other online poker sites is how their are pay jumps at 10-12th getting paid more then 13-15th who get more then 16-18th.

Just realized there might be two "firsts" this evening:

Spoiler:
Winner of the $10k gtd will be player to win the first tournament on legal US poker

wsop.com started public beta a couple days before UP went live iirc. i have a very hard time believing that barring the software being faulty in every conceivable manner that the WSOP will start and that site won't be live for real money at that point. UP has a grace period undoubtedly but it's a relatively small window if other options are going to be popping up
They likely had to balance being first with being "perfect." There is a ton of value in being first

DAX--why do u never answer anymore?? i still cant get online, and i cant get anyone else to come to Jean to see if they could get online, although ive offered numerous people a full tank of gas with comps if they would come to Jean and get me up and running, there is no other people here with 10 miles of me, so no one else here to ask about if they can get on

i wrote a long detailed explanation of what i thought the issue was about page 120-125 somewhere i think, no answer

First of all, this is the first tournament 4 days in b/c they wanted their marquis Sunday tournament to be the first one run on the site.

Secondly, I'm guessing it's capped at 200 because they would rather have a smaller turnout and leave a few dollars on the table in their first tournament than have their first tournament crash and be a disaster.

Finally, they've mentioned in the thread that there will be some weird payout situations because of the odd rules for reporting gambling winnings to the IRS.

UP is continually showing foresight in how they handle these tricky situations like what games they offer and tournament payout and structure but for some reason you guys are giving them a bunch of crap about it.

Perhaps you don't remember, but PokerStars didn't always have 200/400nl, 6 max fast cash games, progressive time banks, and a tournament that paid out 250k to first every week. Give UP a chance to develop into the company it's going to be.
AMEN!

I understand that any Pokersites operating in the US in 2006 (UIGEA) or later years I would not be licensed by Nevada for at least 5 years. Is 888 somehow exempt?

Let it go, friend - everyone else has. If you don't know the answers to my questions, why waste the effort to write anything at all? You bored? An employee? What?

What satisfactory answer are you referring to anyway; that Dax didn't know?

If Dax or other UP reps can't/won't answer my questions I will ask UP support and/or sort it out on my own.

Here's a newbie question. Do I need to get a Stations Casinos "Boarding Pass"? I realize it isn't required, but is that where the Rakeback/FPP equivalent is going to go?

PS - I was disappointed to see that Ultimate Poker's "deposit bonus" is some cheesy freeroll tournament. Hope that doesn't become a trend, but there's your precedent, I guess.

Dax has said that there are currently no rakeback/bonus systems in place. If at any point in the future they decide to implement one, people who sign up now will not be penalized for having already signed up. The offers/points or whatever 'might' be implemented in the future will be offered equally to current (pre-offer (if there ever is an offer)) players.

This only applies to poker companies that took bets from US residents while in the US.

Works again. Seems to have only been down for a short while.

Preet Bharara apparently has UP admin privileges or something and interrupted the final table heads up during a hand to ask if the players were following him on Twitter. I've officially seen it all....

05-06-2013 , 02:33 AM
He doesn't have any privileges. That red chat is observer chat and apparently you can chat at the final table, even if you aren't playing
05-06-2013 , 02:34 AM
Preet is agent Marco.

And also, are people really this stupid? It was their first tournament. The reason they capped the entrants was because this was a trial run to make sure everything ran smoothly. If something went wrong, they only have 200 pissed off customers they have to refund instead of who knows how many. Don't worry, the caps will be lifted soon and everyone will get to play soon

[x] Trolled by Agent Marco.

Here's my screengrab of the final hand. Congrats to the winner!
