I fell head-over-heels in love watching Night of the Living Dead on Chiller Theater over 50 years ago. Chiller Theater was hosted by Bill Cardille who, as we all know, also appears in the movie. Zombies don't scare me. My warm heart is what gets me in trouble. See also Bingo Little.
Beautiful day on the coast; sunny, no wind, the crabbers are out in force hauling in their catch, and not too many tourists. Great day for a leisurely walk on the beach.
Got a big pile of brush to burn today. Cleared out some smaller trees that blew down in a windstorm a few weeks ago. Nothing like a fire and sipping whiskey to make a Sunday worthwhile.
Light dusting of snow at the homestead and along the coast. Adds to the already great scenery. Doesn’t last long but we may get a few more flurries before it’s done. Rather unusual. We get more hailstorms than snow.
Worked hard all day at helping a friend cut down and then cut up some dead trees for fire wood. We had fun falling the trees and getting the wood out. Hard work and their was a cold rain part of the time but we keep at it and got a large truck load of wood cut and staged for later sale. Got a great meal as a reward.
Cool and rainy. Local Cattle got out and rampaged about the roads and along the River. Local scum are also rampant and team with the meth heads and criminals that use Highway 101 as a transportation coordinator for their illicit activities.
Colleagues are in Portland for a conference. Looks cold there.
Still cold here. Warmer days in February. Rian and wind in February.

woke up this morning to a solid dusting of snow on everything but the roads. since then all the white has been erased by clear blue skies and high 40s.

it's been almost three now and remnants of the Floyd protests are obvious in so many ways.
a low percentage of downtown workers have returned to the office post covid, resulting in many of the service businesses (think small markets, restaurants, food carts, bars) either relocating to lower rent areas or packing up the tent altogether, only to be subsequently stolen from their garage by a house-less person and set up just across the sidewalk in the protected state highway right of way.
the streets are close to empty, and moss grows where nobody steps.
Spoiler:
portland was also used as a backdrop for targeted political stunts and commercials leading up to the 2020 election.
organized parades of pickup truck waving maga flags result in gunshots, and unmarked vans snatch protesters off the streets with no intention of administering miranda rights, no big deal.
all the while portland police stood back and stood by and let it all happen
it's not easy to hire qualified officers into that environment, so here we are.
my office is half a block away from kenny and zuke's former location.
they were a specific business i had in mind when referencing relocation, they moved to n. williams on the other side of the river a few months ago.
Spring Break etc and the coast is packed!! Annoying but I hide out at home to avoid the pulsating crowds of tourists. The relative nice weather adds to the hoards.
