So, I'm looking at emails I got welcoming me to Silver, Gold, and Platinum statuses during Jan 2015. They say I'll be rewarded with 1, 2, and 3 (respectively) WSOP point for every APP point I earn.

However, the WSOP website claims that my rewards would be a 4.0x, 5.0x, and 6.0x multiplier for earning those levels of status. It seems like a big discrepancy to me.

Based on my interpretation, getting a 6.0x multiplier for WSOP points would mean for every dollar of rake contributed, I'd get 6.0 x 2 (APPs per dollar) = 12 WSOP points. This to me says I'm getting 12% rakeback.

Based on the email, I'd be getting 3 WSOP points for each APP point I earn which is a 3.0x multiplier at Platinum level which if my math is correct is 6% rakeback.

This seems like a case of a complete lack of clarity on the part of the website or perhaps some deception about what is being offered. I do not see how 4.0x multiplier for Silver could possibly translate to 1 WSOP point being awareded per APP earned as stated in the mail.

I'd like to know the truth about what I'm earning because these numbers are in conflict with each other in a very major way.

I don't know the correct answer but I find that WSOP emails and promotions are usually confusing. They need someone to proof them and verify accuracy and clarity.

The way points are calculated is somewhat confusing. The only thing that you need to know is this:

Rakeback - Whatever your multiplier is, the rakeback is 2x that in percentage.

As long as you remember that, the rest of the system doesn't matter much.

Starpoker -

That was my understanding and I hope you're correct! I started doubting that when I read the emails they sent me more closely, and it would be great to get an official confirmation of this view.

I'm still wondering about the multipliers. I just started playing on wsop NJ this January and I have no clue how the reward system works. I've paid about $433 in rake so far and only have like $12.77 in rakeback, the first week my rewards screen said $0.16 or something and was not moving up regardless of me grinding each day. I contacted CS and a person told me that I was getting 2 points per $1 contributed rake and that the rewards page gets updated weekly/monthly I forget which. Well now I find that my rewards page updates at least daily since it increases daily when I check on it, but I still don't know how I should be calculating how much rakeback I am supposed to be getting. Was climbing through tiers as there's like 8 or so tiers prior to the gold + tier which I just got the other day. I guess next month I will be able to calculate how much rakeback I am getting since I am assuming I will remain gold + or diamond (if I reach that before the end of the month) and since my status won't change next month I'll be able to find out.

Also I didn't get any emails about my status levels, just a few emails for promos.

Yeah -
Can Bill please give us an official response?

Based on my calculations the 6.0x multiplier of Platinum seems to be only giving me 6% RB. That goes against my understanding from reading their own terms as well as what Starpoker explained above. I should be earning 12% at Platinum and 15% at Diamond. This is pretty crappy stuff if they are giving us the illusion of earning 2x what we're actually earning.

Are you in Nevada or New Jersey and are you looking at the right one? I'm pretty sure they are different.

We award 2 APPs for every dollar of rake / tournament fee that you pay. These APPs are awarded regardless what your loyalty status is. In order to start earning WSOP points for the APPs you earn, you need to be at least Silver status at the time the APPs are earned.

Here’s an example:

If you start the month at “Player” status, the first 200 APPs that you earn that month will not award you any WSOP points. The next 100 APPs that you earn in that calendar month will generate WSOP points at a 1.5 multiplier. If you end that month at 315 APPs, then your WSOP points balance will be the following:

= (200 APPs * 0) + (100 APPs * 1) + (15 APPs * 1.5) = 222.5 WSOP Points.

However, you now start the next month as “Silver+ status”. Now if you play more and earn 425 APPs, you’ll now be “Gold” status and you’ll earn the following WSOP points:

= (400 APPs * 1.5) + (25 APPs * 2) = 650 WSOP Points.

In the third month you’ll start off as “Gold” status and if you play the exact same amount as the previous month and earn 425 APPs, your WSOP points will be awarded as per the below:

= (425 APPs * 2) = 850 WSOP Points.

Your monthly APP counter and WSOP points balance automatically update whenever you leave a table.

Thanks Bill that clears it up, was wondering why I wasn't getting any wsop points when I first started.

So starting at silver it's x1 multiplier and every level we add 0.5. I reached platinum status for this month which is 3x multiplier, so 6% RB next month for me. Hopefully in the future RB% will be increased.

Thanks Lego - I am in NJ but somehow kept getting the NV info for the program. I was very confused by the numbers not matching up.

Why are our rewards so much weaker here?
