Trouble Adjusting Trouble Adjusting

I normally play full ring.

The other night at a small casino outside Albuquerque, I was in a 2/4/2/8 spread limit game - late in the morning, it was about 4 or 5 handed.

In this game you can limp in for 2, or raise to 4, 5, or 6 total PF and flop (4 max raise PF and flop, 8 max raise Turn and river).

Tightish decent player on my left, and laggish donkey on my right. one or two dealers were sitting in to keep the game going, and they were essentially tight passive.

The adjustments I made:

Played as if I was folded to in late/middele position. Open rasied with more hands that usual - such as JT or AT.

The problem is that loose donkey on my right or two to my right (depending on if the prop was sitting there) would *never* fold. I'd think I should have destroyed him, but was unable to. I had no fold equity on this table, and he'd call down with bottom pair or A high.

Perhaps it was just the way the cards were running that night, but I couldn't get a toe-hold in this game, and I think the real problem is that I didn't adjust correctly.

I am wondering if in this situation, that raising with hands like JT is a bad idea, and limping in for 2 here would be better, then playing hard when you connect - that is, playing passive PF against said donkey, then getting agro onlyh once you at least make mid pair?

Riasing here would typically isolate the donkey, but then I need a hand that wins at showdown - so, do I take my foot off the gas if I miss the flop? The problem there is that if I do that, he'll insta fire 8 on the turn regardless.

If I C bet the flop, I usually get a free card on the turn, but is that C bet just spew?

Any thoughts on this general discussion?

Thanks

Very well thought out advice.

Isolate LP's with showdownable hands, A7o, k9, 66, etc. You can limp hands like j10o and suited connectors with other loose limpers but with one limper you should probably fold the weaker offsuit hands, lower suited connectors, and one gappers. Value bet a lot lighter than usual against the loose players.

Show me a casino wherein I can play 6 max Live.

Yea, spread limit is not my choice - it was/is the only game available at certain locations.
