nah, imo same argument something costs 999 rather than 1000. you think you're getting a cheaper price...

Point was that it was random number, not 1 less than 1000.

I think it is to tilt people like me.

WHY DO PEOPLE DO THIS? It's not like the standard raise amount in the slide bar goes there.
I love doing that. Usually I think of what raise I want to make, and then "round it" to make the most odd number. Example, if I want to raise to $10 I will raise to anywhere from $9.74 to 10.14 instead.

I just like the way it makes the chip stack way taller, plus the size of the extra large stack intimidates people so you get more folds.

sometimes it makes it more difficult for people to calculate the odds they are being offered too.. especially those who are not extra quick with basic rounding/estimating/multiplication/division skills.

So I got drunk the other night and emailed Stars asking them to empower me to create my own private tournaments, which I can now do. Would anyone be interested in a mixed hold 'em tournament, i.e. 10 hands of LHE followed by 10 hands of NLHE?

I was thinking of setting one up, buy in somewhere $20-50 and promoting it over in the Stars reg threads in the NL section of the site. I think it might be interesting.

Table chat would sound like this:
"Waahhhh! I can't protect my hand!"

I was also thinking people do it to make it look like an all in so people who aren't paying attention are more likely to fold

I haven't played a tournament in years, but played a VIP freeroll the other day and I started doing this. I didn't really think about why I was doing it at the time, but I think I was just bored out of my mind.

LOL...even worse is when they raise 989.57.

When they do that twice to me. Next hand I go all in and commit tournament suicide..
12-04-2009 , 02:08 AM
I think I may have a problem. I just folded AJ preflop.

unguarded, i think you're a 6m reg, right? so probably you're comfy anywhere 2-6 handed i would assume
Yes, I am a 6max reg who starts tables fairly often. I just don't like HUHU... if I want to play games I don't like, I would play NL hehe. 3-6 players is always fun though. Basically, I would just like HUHU drama to gtfo the 6max tables.

yea i think everyone seems to agree re: huhudrama

I have 49.8k VPPs to reach 600k, is this worth worrying about and/or is it possible to get there 4-6 tabling 10/20-30/60?
12-04-2009 , 08:12 AM
probably a bit more than 30k hands of 10/20+. for 50k VPP.

should be really, really easy. its only like 35k hands at 10/20, so if u 6 table it would be 2-2.5 hours/day. i know it wont have any significance on your bankroll, so u might be losing out by not playing the stakes u usually play to get 6k, but it would be like free money for little work.
12-04-2009 , 08:22 AM
I get 1.48 VPP/hand @ 10/20 and about 1.54 at 15/30 (small sample).

This makes absolutely no sense.

I sure love it when st1ckman/zzeigler/kobeyard insta-sit on the left of every fish who joins my tables !

i dont have much opinion one way or the other, but you're missing the point of the argument. basically, you have no idea whether a fish is joining your table looking for a heads up match, or if he's just looking for action. if its the latter, then its plausible that you'd get less opponents if hu tables were available.
