10/20 Turn fold w/ 99s full 10/20 Turn fold w/ 99s full

Villians: MP is loose, 50/20/1 type, not extremely aggressive. No read on button, I don't remember what he was like.

UTG is a very solid 2p2 TAG. We have played a few thousand hands together. I don't think my image is overly nitty, but he probably views me as a marginal player (since I am).

I think this is probably an extremely bad fold, but I thought I would get other opinions on it. Getting 15:1 with only the river to extract value doesn't seem like quite enough. I don't think I'm getting more than 2 bets if I raise a river 9. But, coupled with the small chance that I'm ahead, I think I probably should call. However, with the action I've given in a capped and protected pot, I think I'm going to be ahead very little. Since villian is UTG and capping, I figure his range is likely AK, AQs, AA-JJ, maybe TT. Maybe this range is too tight.

Normally I would call this down baring an ace with my entire pair range. Which in this spot is probably 88+. I wouldn't 3bet 77 with the previous action.

Thoughts? Horrible?

I think the fold is all right. I seriously doubt you're ahead. If the 2+2er has a worse hand, though, then I think he deserves to lose to Button's 33 .

Still, the turn call on its own only costs you about 1/4 BB even if you're certain you're behind, and at the table what I'd probably do is just call down and lose, hating the thought of seeing 77-88 for the TAG and AJo for Button at showdown with my hand folded.

If you are going to fold with this type of action then you should just call down after the flop lead.
