You guys gotta cut Tien some slack. He's stuck in some sort of perpetual feedback loop where CAPITAlISM is vaguely defined as everything that is correct, and any and all critiques of capitalism are directly equivalent to advocating for bread lines and gulags. The concept of nuance is lost on him, and anybody daring to question the status quo is immediately characterized as an enormous straw man.

He's not necessarily a bad person. He just needs some guidance.

Do you literally walk around in public and take a giant dump everywhere you go? If not, why the **** do you do it on twoplustwo in every single topic thread.

Who the **** gave you the right to literally walk around and defecate your garbage understanding of the world all over the place?
Like Jack said, nobody gives it to you, you have to take it.

More importantly, why do dog owners think they can let their dogs poop all over public parks without cleaning up? But oh no, yr Trolly takes just one little poop in the park and everyone goes nuts! Dogs have all the luck, yo.

I dont even disagree with ur negative views of capitalism. But just because deuces is theoretically on ur side doesnt mean you should rush to the defense of twoplustwo biggest ****** when he decides to take one of his regular ****s in public.

wow shocking

we def need the state to help us solve this inequality

Anyone with a positive net worth has more wealth than approximately the bottom 25% of Americans combined. That doesn't mean all of the bottom 25% is poor either, they could have good jobs but still under student loan debt, mortgages, etc... I'm not sure how the percentage changes across the world but would think it would be fairly close.

The "but poors are better off, despite inequality" is entirely true, but irrelevant. The sans-culottes of the French Revolution were probably much better off than they were in the middle ages, or living in mud huts in antiquity, but that somehow didn't make them feel much better about their society. If people believe they're getting a grossly unfair slice, they're going to fight back, regardless of how big the overall pie is.

Not if they have Firefly DvDs.
01-25-2014 , 08:21 PM
Estimated retail: $30

Actual worth: $5,000,000,000

Hurray capitalism!

lol what? The poors are better off is irrelevant? That's some **** posting dude. Whether or not someone who is poor is living an acceptable life is far more important than the gap between them and the rich.

Who need entertainment when you got American politikksing.

Why politics at all? is it not to limit the inherently evil?
01-25-2014 , 08:59 PM
Just think what these numbers will be in 30 - 40 years after the population of Africa doubles.

How do you know if you're living an acceptable life? Why aren't the poor in America dancing in the streets compared to the poor in India living in trash piles?

Have you identified some sort of absolute well being scale?

Of course it's relative. It always is. It's also pretty arrogant to decide what an acceptable life is for other people, especially those in a lower class than you.

I have.

$10,000 in income = 1,000,000 Porkers
$100,000 in income = 1,100,000 Porkers
$1,000,000 in income = 1,200,000 Porkers
$1,000,000,000 in income = 1,500,000 Porkers

So, while a billion seems like a lot more than $10,000 in dollars, when you look at it in Porkers, it's really only 50% more. And Porkers is a much better measure of quality of life and happiness.
01-25-2014 , 09:59 PM
Firefly DvDs are worth about 5,000,000 Porkers.

Sounds about right. It's been shown that certain primates are content with a potato when their neighbour in the next cage gets one too, but become furious when they see their neighbour is being given grapes while they're still being given potatoes.
01-25-2014 , 10:06 PM
You'll live a lot longer eating potatoes than you would eating grapes.
