Why do seemingly Anti Jewish posts get condemned while Anti Muslim posts are allowed? Why do seemingly Anti Jewish posts get condemned while Anti Muslim posts are allowed?

I noticed that the following thread was locked,

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/41...ended-1480106/

I'm not a Jew so I dont know what its like to be a Jew and read comments which support the Holocaust, or comments which suggest that Hitler did some good things. But I would imagine that Jews dont like reading comments like what we saw in the ISIS stance on cigarettes thread, and I would imagine that is why the above thread was locked up. I'm also not a Muslim, but I'd imagine that Muslims would not enjoy reading some of the Islamophobic posts on P/U and the regular Politics section.

Why are the politics/PU mods not as aggressive with tackling possible Islamophobic posts as they are with tackling possible Antisemitic posts ? I think its safe to say that most people here on 2+2 feel that the majority of Jews and Muslims are good people, yet we have a # of threads and comments on PU and the regular politics section, that could be deemed as Islamophobic.

Maybe your definition of islamaphobia is seriously skewed and you're dumb.
10-07-2014 , 03:36 PM
As one example, criticism of Brunei for passing a law to stone homosexuals is not islamophobic.
10-07-2014 , 03:45 PM
If someone posted a thread saying "what about all the good things that came from the crusades." I'd lock that too.

I can honestly say I have modded Islamophobic posts exactly the same as I've modded Antisemitic posts.

Feel better?

Edit: And as a poster, I've actually argued against the Islamophobic (is this a word?) posts more than I've argued against Antisemitic posts.

I think anti-Islamic or anti-religion are the words usually used.

"Bomb the crap out of them" probably qualifies as either racist or Islamophobic (xenophobic?), genocidal, or at the very least nationalistic.

Go 'murica. Because it is ok when we do it. (the last bit was satire, just in case my tone didn't come through)

Tom now this is part of the big problem.

As a Catholic, I find it offensive that you would compare the Holocaust to the Crusades. This is sort of an Anti Catholic viewpoint of yours. Come on man, Muslims, Catholics, Jews, and Atheists deserve respect, do you agree?

Your example should rather be about if someone posted a thread about the good things that the KKK has done.

Not when they act poorly. Then they deserve derision.
10-07-2014 , 10:36 PM
Atheists are awful. No respect for them.
10-07-2014 , 11:17 PM
When people pass laws in the name of Islam calling for stoning homosexuals they deserve derision and scorn, not respect #bruneirunbybigots

Anti religion thinking is the greatest thing that human kind need to push even further.

No need to. Hush, my child. Just let things just happen.

No one has ever given up religion because they were yelled at.

lol at the ISIS cigarettes thread

Thekid's example is terrible but I dont think his point is totally invalid. Being prejudiced against muslims or arabs seems relatively well accepted here. People usually argue that it is not racist to criticize Islam as a religion and I agree (lol religion anyway), but some posts in the Bill Maher thread or the various middle east threads strike me as racist and dont generate much outrage. People who would argue that it is not racist to criticize mexican music as a music genre and make sweeping generalizations about listeners of that music would not be given as much leeway, imo.

If someone made a post saying what about all the good things cromwell did I'd lock that too.

The Crusades were a truly awful, terrible thing done by religious zealots. This is not remotely debatable.
10-08-2014 , 08:08 AM
If it wasn't for the crusades, Europe wouldn't have gone through the renaissance(or it would have happen later).

like algebra and ****

The Crusades are pretty analogous to IS today. A group of foreigners who didnt/don't believe in the sovereignty of the people in a location and thought it was their God given right to change it.

Jews rule. Gentiles drool.

Assuming you mean Oliver Cromwell, that suggests to me that you know very little about his life.
Did you know he was voted one of the ten greatest Britons of all time in 2002?
But I will not presume to attempt to describe anything good that he ever did.

I legitimately know nothing about Oliver Cromwell, tell me about him.
