What would be good for the league is if they didn't give every advantage to the offense. A guy who likes dudes is good for the league though? Explain please...
Because pro sports have a history of homophobia and its good to see it being eradicated.

I've never seen Jason Collins kissing a dude.

I think it is lame for Sam to do this though. We get it, you are gay, I don't think most people care, nor do I. But to make a spectacle of it is just an attempt to garner more attention for yourself is so douchey.

Also, like I said, I would totally have respect for the guy if he comes out and then just leaves it like that. And then be a football player. Fielding phone calls from the president, doing interviews saying cliche things, making sure America sees you kissing your boyfriend. Just so dramatized, fake, and annoying.
There was nothing fake about that spectacular man kiss.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha omggggggg what?

Yeah if there's anything that's too eye-rolling cliche in this country, it's African-American gay men.

Don Jones is the only player in the NFL who is homophobic……..because he tweeted "OMG TERRIBLE."

Did Jason Collins get drafted during the last 18 months?

The problem is that you are a bigot. Its not the media, its not Michael Sam. Work on that and come join the 21st century my friend

Isnt this the part of the thread where you pull up something a Democrat said in 1953 so something something its OK to be a bigot?

So? It's telling that when asked *by others* to put cameras in his home and he doesn't say no, you blame him for being an attention whore instead of blaming the outlets who requested the cameras and wanted to to show everyone his reaction.

(hint: what it's telling is that you're a bigot)

Well, I am waiting for a Don Jones Unchained thread from you on how he is a hateful bigot for tweeting "OMG TERRIBLE" after Sam's kiss.

To be fair, you didn't make the Sterling thread until a couple days after the story broke. So you do get a couple days.

I'm ready for a week long media frenzy on Don Jones' comments about how Sam kissing his bf was terrible, and him being a bigot.
05-12-2014 , 07:08 AM
Do you think he is not a bigot?

He knows why they want cameras in his home, and it has nothing to do with football.

If he said no and just went about his business privately like most NFL prospect nobodies do, I would respect that a LOT. A LOT. It's like hey I'm gay, no big deal.

He is a bigot, but I care as much about him being a bigot as I do Sterling being a bigot, which is close to zero.

I'm interested why Sterling's private comments made news to the president on the other side of the world on a foreign policy trip, but Don Jones's tweeting out hate might not even make it on Sportscenter for more than 30 seconds. Let alone headline news.

Bigots say bigoted **** all the time that doesn't reach headlines, if you can't see the difference between these two cases.....

Also you haven't answered why you're surprised ESPN showed two dudes kissing when kids will be watching

On the front page of ESPN.com, was on the front page of Boston.com this morning. Why exactly do you think its being ignored?

What do you wish Sam had done? Said that he just wants to be known as a football player, not a gay football player?

Obama called Sam yesterday.

Don Jones comments in all the headlines

Lol Silverman, just literally making things up as usual.

Prediction: Michael Sam will not baaaaaahhhhh away all his football money buying shiny coins.

Not really shocking a hateful bigot like yourself doesn't care about bigotry. Id honestly kill myself if my kid turns out like you.

What is the difference between the two???

Nobody ever heard of Sterling before a month ago. Just like nobody has heard of Don Jones.

Unknown owner and unknown current player.

One said it privately and one said it on twitter.

Because I don't understand why ESPN would want to broadcast a guy kissing another guy. It is a sports network. And they know kids are watching and know that there are lots of parents out there that don't want to have their young kids seeing that.

You don't think there are 11 year old kids out there watching to see who is picked next? and then bam two dudes kissing. uhhh wtf?
05-12-2014 , 07:38 AM
I assumed you were correct that one hadn't reached the headlines, and with little knowledge of sports the obvious explanation for the difference in coverage would have been one being a small time player and one being a big-time team owner. My mistake.

Let's try again. Why is this worse than them seeing a man kiss a woman. Why is this uhhh wtf?

Fair enough.

Won't be a 3 week long soap opera though like Sterling's thing was.

He won't be banned either, right?

It won't be a 3 week long soap opera like Sterling's deal. I'd be shocked if there was a new article on it on wednesday. And he won't be banned, right?

Ok sure, even if I concede that a big time owner (that nobody has ever heard of) is a bigger deal than a small time player and warrants more attention. It would certainly be evened out by the fact that one broadcasted it to the public and one said it privately.

Better yet, what if ESPN showed two women kissing?

How many of you would have a problem with that?
05-12-2014 , 07:49 AM
Silverman just not even hiding he's a homophobic bigot now.

Silverman, do you know as I was walking through the park yesterday I saw two men holding hands and kissing? Like right in the middle of the city, in the middle of the day, in a park with lots of parents and kids walking around? DONT THEY KNOW SOME PARENTS DONT WANT THEIR KIDS TO SEE THIS ZOMG WHY CANT WE GO BACK TO THE DAYS WHERE TEH GAYZ KNEW THEIR PLACE!111!1

If this was 50 years ago and Sam was kissing a white women, forchar and Silverman would be in here bitching about that. Its in their nature to hate things that are different in the scary world that's too complex for them to understand. One of them expresses their yearning for simplicity and inability to hack it in the modern world by collecting shiny objects like a small child.

Rhetorical question obviously, I'm just amazed that you didn't even feel the need to justify this like most other opinions of bigotry you give on this board, as if the logic for what you're saying just speaks for itself.

If Sam was a top 10 pick at the studio with his family and friends, and gave his BF a kiss before he walked up to shake Goodel's hand, then that would be natural and non-commercialized.

If Sam was a 15th-32nd talent prospect who might slide into the 2nd round or later because he is gay, and ESPN wanted to show up and record it I would be fine with that because then you have top talent maybe being forced into a later round because of his sexuality and/or the circus he will obviously bring with it.

Sam is a 5th round prospect drafted 3 spots before Mr. Irrelevant and probably won't even make an NFL roster, let alone become a starter or last even 2 or 3 years in the NFL.

Kissing and holding hands in public is fine. Nobody is commercializing that, nobody is trying to benefit from that, nobody is trying to make money from that.
