so what in the UK do the jews not get equal access to? i'm gonna be real disappointed if all someone says is "church of england" or some such nonsense.

They get additional access eg to their Beth Din courts. Muslims get extra access to their Sharia courts. Sikhs extra rights which allow them to wear turbans more often, Hindus get extra rights to have outdoor cremations (or that's in the pipeline I believe).

I have given you my position. I believe in pluralism. Within this context that means equal gay marriages/civil partnerships. This would avoid the need to redefine heterosexual marriages. It's a win-win.
