Maybe Jalfrezi or some other Uker can comment but it's not a particularity UK type insult (at least not when I was in the playground). Seems more American and I tend to equate it to other more common UK insults that I'm more confident in objecting to.
Yeah change it to cricket. Fly struggles against the forward defense and the straight bat. Lots of pace and aggression but has serious flaws in his technique. Top quality sledging.
I squirmed the first time I heard a Brit using the word ****** pejoratively, and when he used it on a UK forum he was told not to.
I still feel uncomfortable with it because it's still very closely tied to its technical meaning, much more so than 'idiot' or 'moron' are.
Also, there's no such cricket shot as the forward defense.
