There is a sitewide rule against trolling and derailing, but somehow multiple mods in both P and PU have been unable to stop the SMP crew from deliberately shifting up the forum for years. I've really never seen a online community this incompetently moderated.

None the less, one of the reasons for inviting in other mods was because of the perception of bias. Unlike with Kerowo an equal playing field is considered vital rather than bad.

Eh, maybe it's not sitewide, but it's explicit in alpha (though never enforced). In practice, ****ting all over the carpet will get you banned in any other subforum except P/PU. Basically, it's clear kerowo had the authority to clean up this mess.

Anyone who is just trying to get P7.0 shut down should be exiled.

But I think he understood the mess to be the point of the forum, give or take a little. I mean, to a large extent that's not that different from my reasoning for moderating the way I have been moderating.

Although it's certainly true that the forum could have gone in different directions at various points. it's just that most of them lead inexorably to the questions about how it's different from the main forum, I think?

This ain't even close to being true. In temporal context, the "you didn't approve" posters were generally the riders in the SMP Invasion clown car. They were given infinite slack.

"Outrageous" is an outrageous exaggeration. Exiled the fool on a technicality is spot-on in my recollection. But Teh Jabber-Wookie was spamming the forum flat out, and was only being tolerated on the technicality that nobody could "prove" he was doing so intentionally.

All that being said, exiling the fool, and lifting the fool's exile are two different and distinct decisions. Regardless of how Teh Jabber-Wookie got exiled, it was a terribly awful decision to lift that exile.

The core problem with Baja, original Baja, and Nuevo Baja both, is structural, not rules based. The worst of the bad awful posters... not just the 'Rightists', not because of this farcical imaginary bias, not because of any of that BS... get exiled into Baja. But, the worst of the bad awful posters in Baja just stay in Baja. And... Baja gets about 10% of the volume.

It's like the worst NFLers are continually exiled to the new LA Football Clippers. All the worst NFLers on the Football Clippers must forever stay on the Football Clippers. And the Football Clippers get only one pick in the draft -vs- 10 picks for every other team.

almost entirely successful. but i have also come to the conclusion that if this place goes, i won't care about the complaints about the politics forum. i'll almost always change bans to exiles when requested and that will be the extent of my concern.

no worries about action on closing this place. the way it stands now, all three moderators need to quit for that to occur.

I was deep in the Zruce Fiasco while it was going down but I was on hiatus during the reign of kerowo and whatever happened with spank. I'm kinda conflicted about all this as there's a big [scene missing] in my history film.
