Uh, I didn't take any position at all. There was no normative language in my post whatsoever, iirc.

People - as they tend to do - tried to shift blame away from their team. They were saying that "anyone" who has "their" land "stolen" would be doing what the poor Palestinians were doing, as if it was an automated reflex.

So I pointed out that, after much more than 70 years of hell, Natives haven't been known to jam meat cleavers into random Americans' chests in churches or blow themselves up on busses. The point being that terrorism is not some instinctual gag reflex, but a strategic or tactical choice. People seem to be unable to attribute basic decision-making skills to Palestinian Arabs. They're not automatons. They're humans.

That's all it was. Nobody said what the Palestinians should do, although if they wanted to live in peace stopping that **** might be a start.

Maybe this was a one-off for you given that you started reading in the middle, but I think the average 2p2 poster (or people at large) isnt capable of reading an argument like that without going ZOMG GAMBLOR BAD POSTER HE HATES ARABS (AND, APPARENTLY, ETHIOPIANS).

In the case of a conflict, it's a little different. Because I've literally fought in the conflict, and its been a constant in my life. And it's the same for a few others in that thread, who have a variety of positions on it. We pay attention to it and know it through and through, which kind of helps identify salient issues better than the guys reading headlines from the NYT or something.

So I'm comfortable taking the general view in that thread (that 13ball is an assclown) to the bank.

I think it's interesting that attention-seeking is almost exclusively the motive of 'bad' posters in the minds of 'good' posters around these parts.

The validation stuff is particularly LOL given how drastically wrong it is. I mean, is there a better example of projection? Ikes clearly never gets validated (...like, ever), and those claiming otherwise all get off by isolating dissenters ITF and dog-piling with all their BFFs. I mean hey, if that's not driven by a desire for validation then IDK what is.

Wife and I are on AT&T and our 2 year contracts are about to expire. I'm thinking about re-signing and getting a Galaxy S5 for us both for free ($1,100 in value), then cancelling service the next day. We then sign up for Verizon or T-Mobile w/ 2 year contracts, have them pay our early termination fees at AT&T, and get Galaxy S5s as free with the contract.

Would we not be getting away with the initial S5s from AT&T for free? Could flip them on Craigslist and make like $1,000.
