Nah, let's stop at the "But" and really explore your rationalization a bit.

Question: What is a problematic form of communication that reinforces gender roles and, in particular, sexualizes the concept of weakness and other undesirable traits as being inherently feminine?

Answer: SEXIST SLURS.

Follow up: What would you call the minimization of slurs as being merely problematic?

Answer: RATIONALIZATION.

Anyway, Melissa McEwan buys into your theory, Fly, of using labels to ID all misogynists, big and small, as a means to not pardon those who are less flagrant...such as yourself! She writes at FinallyFeminism101, among other places, and puts it better than I can.

"...reserving these terms (misogynist, sexist, racist) for the extremes allows people to, "rationalize away such incidents because a real racist burns a cross on someone’s lawn, or ties a black man to the back of a truck and drags him until his limbs fall off.” Reserving “misogynist” (or “sexist”) for equivalent displays of contempt for women means that a guy who flippantly refers to another guy as a **** (or a bitch, or a pussy, or a girl) can justify it with assertions that he isn’t a misogynist

Here's an exerpt from an EverydayFeminism article.

"Think about the implications of this. ****, a word literally meaning vagina, is the most offensive word you can hurl at someone.

And don’t even get me started on the common use of pussy to put a man down.

Vaginas are offensive. Vaginas are dirty. Vaginas are insulting. Being associated with all of that? What could be worse? Nothing, apparently, according to society. And yet the average person doesn’t even think about this, doesn’t even make the connection. This shows the sexism ingrained in our culture.
"

#dudeliterally should stop making excuses for using this language as it undermines you and sets a poor example for those you vehemently oppose ITF. Plus, it disallows you from calling us out on using sexist language, which basically would cut your posting frequency in half. Finally, being that you recognize your own misogynistic tendencies, you should slow the f*** down with hurling insults whenever it is you get a whiff of those you consider to be MRAs, or whatever else might trigger your mania.

Yeah, because the people he's arguing with were JUST ABOUT to change their minds until that gender slur popped up.

JUST about to

I kinda have a hunch that the etymology of pussy as an insult doesn't originate with comparisons to female genitalia or femininity.

Yep. Looked it up. Makes me feel a little better about using it in mixed company before and getting dirty looks. So y'all need to accept the word as a valid, non-sexist insult to men and stop being a bunch of overly-sensitive pussies.

It's a fair point that "pussy" as a derogatory term like, "gay" and "******ed", needs to be phased out of our language. Unfortunately, the people trying to make this point are so transparently disingenuous that it negates any kind of meaningful conversation about it.

I mean, LOL yeah, you didn't actually write "War of Northern Aggression", you just wholesale adopted and believe straight up Lost Cause bull****.

And that's not even close to the most racist **** you've posted, Alex. You're nothing more than an uneducated bumpkin who don't like being looked down on, but you think you're clever so you'll try some ****ing epic judo flip and claim you're the REAL LIBERAL p.s. abolishing Jim Crow was federal tyranny.

Pussy has a lot of context to consider. If it's used for something like gay-bashing/ man-hating is when it crosses the line from garden-variety insult into hate-speech.

The line of semantical gotcha-ism that has led us to this spot is not pussy, more like dick. Intentional 'sensitivity' is hard.

So calling someone who is easily offended by course language a "f***ing pussy" is an acceptable, garden variety insult? What do you base this on?

By 1900 it was a settled legal issue. There is not right of secession under the US Constitution.

It's generally used when a guy does something that would cause him to lose his man card. Like ordering a fruity drink, going to a chick flick with the wife, driving a eco friendly car or this:

There's also not a right to play poker or smoke weed under the constitution. But we don't rely on the constitution to grant rights, which I'm sure you're aware of.

Yeah, that sounds about right. The flipside of calling someone who uses course language with intent to offend a butthole or dick.

Insults, how do they work?

Sensitive people who are easily offended by coarse language shouldn't be in unchained. So what are you doing here?
06-05-2014 , 05:24 PM
Yeah, the specific context counts like I said. Pussy is a lot deeper than it looks.

lol @ all things Supreme Court type !!!1!

Always cute when various branches of government try to pretend like the Tenth Amendment doesn't exist. Especially cute when the Chief Justice was on Lincoln's cabinet. lol
