Penis warts are an absolute truth.

Why is proph having this conversation in this thread? Granted it did help him get known as a bad poster. But having achieved that - can he now start his own thread and leave this thread for those of us who want to read snarky comments about other bad posters without having to get through Proph's completely unoriginal posts that we've seen here hundreds of times for the last 10 years?!

Hope the latest hi-tech wheeze intended to counter the age-old problem of the rapid dissemination of falsehood, calumny and plausible gibberish:
a social media lie detector, get implemented ITT as soon as its finished.

"Falsehood flies," wrote Jonathan Swift 300 years ago, "and truth comes limping after it, so that when men come to be undeceived, it is too late; the jest is over, and the tale hath had its effect."

No. Meaning is conveyed in many ways and using additional formatting can enrich or enhance that meaning.

That's funny coming from me because I get a lot of "it's the way you say it" criticisms for being insensitive or curt.

I call bull****. The success rate at which algorithms detect fake reviews is only like 70% (right?). And fake reviews should be a lot easier for software to spot than random **** people say on facebook and twitter.

In before Shane G goes strong with his "there was no plane on 9/11, it's all photoshopped" theory.

Of course I've heard of open source, you tard. I've written and published open source code for the scientific community. The whole free, open source software movement relies on copyright laws in order to function.
Fortunately I kept reading before responding so I could send my pony back to the stables.

I will just say that there is a lot of ****ed up code to fix out there. Not sure how much eliminating copyright laws would effect software development. Companies are really protective of their source code and there is a lot of effort being put into making security policies that have both hardware and software components making pirating binaries a lot less feasible. I'm all for copyright laws for software though anyway and keeping developer compensation as high has possible.

Nit: it's not that simple. Planning on moving to avoid paying taxes will get the IRS all sorts of up your butt. And not in the good way.

When was the last time Elliottr posted in real politics? Gaming the system IMO by only posting here.

The IRS isn't going to stop someone from moving to nomadic parts of Russia where you don't have to pay taxes if your current taxes are paid. You might get tripped up in other areas.

The short answer is you're wrong. This has been covered multiple times in the real politics forum.

You're right in the edge case where you're talking about someone with no income but those people aren't moving to avoid paying taxes.

Explain how there's a whole slough of expatriates living elsewhere in the world. Giving up your US citizenry isn't especially difficult.

You're right about needing money to move. But if you feel so strongly about an issue I'd think you'd accrue and use resources to use the exit strategy.

The US has an expatriation tax

Tangent question: Do people ever ditch the States in attempts to dodge six figure student loan debt? With tuition costs rising, can't be long before $250,000 undergraduate debts are pretty standard.
02-22-2014 , 04:32 PM
You can't just waltz into a new country and ask for citizenship. There will be a background check, and a debt that large will certainly raise questions. The sorts of countries most US citizens would want to move to are the ones least likely to admit a potential deadbeat. You usually need to be squeaky clean to emigrate to a first world nation.
