WPN Rep,

So did I understand you correctly? Are you saying that the issues last night were a problem with WPN's load handling?

IMO player chip counts were seriously and irreparably damaged by the network issues last night. I was in the Big 10, 2,500 GTD last night and when the issues started I was the chip lead at my table and somewhere in the low teens tournament wide. When I finally was able to play again, one guy at the table had 30k+ chips and the rest of us had about 8k. I barely managed to make it ITM and mincash while the guy who was able to exploit the outage maintained his chip lead well past that point.

Because of the massive impact of the network outage last night, the decision to resume the tournaments rewarded the exploiters.

I'm also curious how much detail on chip counts/bustouts/buy ins WPN keeps? When you experience a network affecting issue, whether it's a problem specifically on your servers or not, I think it would be better to:

1) Determine the start time of the event as well as possible,
2) Identify for each tournament affected who was still in the tournament at the time the trouble started
3) If not yet in the money, use the actual prize pool (not any guaranteed pool) / players still left in the tourney at the time from #1 and issue refunds based on that ratio
4) If IN the money, take the guaranteed pool and divide it evenly between those players ITM at the time from #1

People with big stacks won't like my proposal but in a case like this the people with big stacks only have them because they were able to take advantage of an issue that crippled the other players. IMO the ONLY fair way to handle these issues when they occur on such a large scale is to stop the tournaments and issue refunds that ignore chip counts.

Only 12 pages later did I realize this was not related to yesterday's crash. Oie. I need to go back to bed.

Has anyone seen any refunds yet?
12-08-2014 , 01:31 PM
I know in my case the Big 10 $2,400 GTD was paused and then resumed.

Frankly I think WPN should change their policy regarding significant outages. Pausing and resuming creates an unfair playing field where people who can get a good connection get to exploit those who can't. IMO The only fair way for WPN to handle these major outages is to identify the start time of the outage, determine who was still in the tourney at that time, and divy up the real (not gtd) prize pool between them evenly.

I agree with you Greebo. The main problem is that when the lag started and disconnects they didn't pause the tourneys. We kept on "playing" for like an hour, hour and a half before they decided to pause the tourneys for 30 mins only to continue with same issues afterwards. IMO they should check when this began and refund all the tourneys that were going on during that time because like you said some were able to exploit d/cs and gained and unfair advantage. Most fair thing to do is a refund for all in terms of buyins + maybe add a little extra for all the loss of nerves during that period. After all it was sunday which is the D-Day for grinders and alot of people were rightfully pissed off, including me.

I agree with the fact that the procedure/policy in place didn't work out well.

I was in the 1955288 Hold'em BIG10 - $3,500 GTD. Played 1 hand, than paused for 15 minutes and came back to intermittent service of play for about 40 minutes to have it just be cancelled.

I do believe I was immediately refunded, but to still had played for 40 minutes doesn't sit well with me. Should have just cancelled it during 15 minute break/pause.

Not sure if this is related to yesterday's issue, but today I noticed that I am only able to get seated in a sng if I restart the client everytime a new one is started...

Lag/freeze is happening again.... I have the SNG lobby open but I can't click on anything.
December is shaping up to be a slow month in the earnings department, between the madness on Merge the past three weeks and this stuff on WPN.

So the lobby is suuuuper slow and I don't seem to be able to open up the cashier at all.
Should I fear the worst and not bother to reg for any games today? Because if I get to experience what I did last night ONE MORE DAY I might actually shoot myself in the head before this night is over. :-o

My SNG lobby is frozen......

same here

Now the SNGs have disappeared completely from the lobby; just like what happened on Merge a couple of weeks back.

I was in the middle of the on demand freeroll last night when everything went down.

As of this post every SnG lobby on my client is completely empty and there are no games.

I have previously had no trouble with BCP and I hope that you can rectify this situation and make amends to players who have lost money because of this problem.

I had games running, but then new games stopped opening even though the lobby shows they started, and now I am frozen out of everything.

but cash games seem to be opening just fine

Goodbye $

I was told my support this morning that we were supposed to receive refunds sometime today. I still haven't . Has anyone?
12-08-2014 , 06:04 PM
I've been grinding the $10 freerolls...but now I don't see them in the freeroll lobby...did they just remove them?
12-08-2014 , 06:05 PM
re-entered into OSS #22 and can't get to my table..blinding off for 3 or 4 mins now

Registered to the 3k 6max and had to manually open my table from the lobby as the table had not pop up.

Other than that it seems to work for now

I can't even see anything in the tourney lobby or sit and go lobby at all.

I had some tables not pop up at first, but now the who lobbies are gone.
now they suddenly came back.
and looks like I lost every game I was registered in

from about 2:45az time to 3:15 i was frozen out of all tourneys but apparently not everyone else was b/c they took all my chips and won
