Link115 thinks roa is 9x better than athenes on ori. Time to start trying roa. After the patch roa will most likely be better.

Is it just cause he's bad or did he give another reason

so i drunkenly bought olaf a couple days ago and have been playing him a fair amount (mostly solo pub) against fellow lvl 11 & 12 donks. i've been using some standard solomid build and mostly playing either top or bottom and occasionally ganking someone who's awful. any advice on olaf? i realize that he may not be the best champ to learn the game with, but i think i'm gonna stick with him for at least a little while longer

He said that the damage difference was minimal and that you want the extra hp so that you don't get cc'd/bursted and destroyed. Also he said the sustain is a lot better and you don't need the cdr if you are good at landing your skills.

I'm gonna try roa out some more. The cdr on athenes is good, but the hp seems like it would help a lot. Link said he tried both builds on her a lot and he found that roa was better.

well in **** elo it's nice to have sustain damage imo, because if you are any good at positioning you can keep attacking them. I prefer athenes and orianna is one of my strongest ap carries.

i might just go manly build of 2x dorans into dcap.

Olaf is fine to learn on. You can learn to avoid harass and what not..

The main thing with this guy is: He has no escapes, he doesn't do much until he is super farmed, or unless you can snowball early game. You are easily kiteable aside from using ult/landing axes. A lot of champs counter you in lane unless you get that first kill, if you can't, you'll be farming under tower all day.

Pretty much, based on your match up, you either start Q or start E. If you think you can manage to last hit and trade hits with your lane, you want to max E ASAP, if not, then you'll want to max Q and maybe W to farm under tower.

Your E is true damage, it goes thru armor and what not, it's a huge nuke on a short cooldown, abuse it. Whenever you see the enemy come in to last hit, E him and then back off,(only do this if you're ahead or even with him, if he's killed you already, dont) don't try to fight, you'll win the trade all day, if he wants to keep coming, spam skill, spam E, just don't underestimate bursty champs or ones with escapes (Rengar/Renekton/Wukong and the 773897438978974894 top lane champs) Ranged tops easily counter you also. Teemo just ****s on you. fkn teemo

build olaf tanky. he really doesn't need any damage items at all. just get shurelyas and finish a big chain vest item (sunfire, randuins, GA, frozen heart) and he's good to go.

i just can't see how anyone would prefer roa to athene's on ori. the mana regen lets you spam all day, the cdr and mr are both excellent and i just dont think you need the hp on someone like ori. if you are getting bursted often you need to work on your positioning/awareness imo, not build roa.

really the only time i can see getting roa over athene's right now would be on someone like kassadin who needs to get up close to do his damage (and thus actually DOES face the issue of getting focused).

No, but there is no reason to run anything else besides it for mid and top lane because barrier is so much better than ignite. The thing I like about barrier is that it is a harder skill to use compared to ignite since you have to anticipate the damage.
