AP = ability power
AD = attack damage

Carries are the roles "carrying" your team to victory (or another definition: gets carried by team through the early game, to carry them late game), usually dealing most of your damage. AD carries scale really well with items, as they deal most of their damage with basic attacks. AP carries deal their damage mostly with abilities, making them scale more with levels than AD carries, causing AP carries to be at their strongest around mid game, while AD carries shine around late game. Especially lategame teamfights revolve a lot around keeping your carries alive and dealing damage.

ganking is basically killing your opponent by jungler or another lane coming to your lane. (Killing your lane opponent by yourself is not ganking) The term is also used in MMOs, but idk where it actually comes from. Gang killing?

creeps can be either minions or neutral jungle creeps. During the laning phase (early game, before you're grouping up to fight for map objectives) two key things to do are last hit creeps for gold and not die. Understanding that gets you quite far.

Ability Power Carry - It's a champion that is designed to be a massive damage dealer whose damage/skills scale off ability power - read mages (Ahri, Cassiopeia, Annie, to name a few)

Attack Damage Carry - A champion designed to be a massive damage dealer whose damage/skills scale off attack damage - read ranged fighters (Vayne, Ezreal, Corki to name a few)

Ganking is when a champion leaves his lane or his duty to help kill another lane or roam to kill someone. Like, if mid decides to go to top and they 2v1 the top guy. It's a gank

Creep = minion , also know as CS (Creeps slain)

Wonder if they'll buff the armor items (or nerf LW) to compensate with this. Especially in TT it's gonna be crazy when you can build pillager+lw to get 46% + 46 arpen with just the masteries and 9 arpen marks. That'd be true damage to all targets with 86 or less armor with just 2 items. Or if you also take arpen quints, true damage to anyone with 104 or less armor.

Time to start practicing Pantheon, Riven, Renekton and Talon.

I think ap carry is highly misleading, calling karthus, ap kog, orianna, katarina ap carries are fine but for the majority like annie kassadin leblanc cassio ahri.

Its like calling urgot an ad carry.

Start playing 5-man team vs bots. You can beat them fairly easily and you'll start to grow your tolerance of the raging and douchebaggery of having live teammates. Then move to normals when you are more comfortable with the mechanics.

Game is about two things, gold and xp. You get gold mostly by last hitting. You get xp mostly by being near creeps when they die. Both of these objectives are helped immensely by you not dying. So play safe, farm and wait for your opponents to make mistakes. They always do.

When you get really good you can actually force bad situations on your opponents but it's way easier to just wait for them to do it themselves.

The game is very punishing on mistakes. Once a champ starts snowballing it's hard to stop him and requires a concentrated team effort which you wont find much in solo queue.

For the new players, join us in channel 2p2, there is usually a bunch of us idling there and at least a few of us (not me) have low level smurfs that we can play with you.

If you like watching streams I recommend watching:
TheOddOne - Think of him as a Destiny that is actually good (plays for NA's #1 team), hugely entertaining, will often explain his thought process, will teach about jungling (a difficult concept for newcomers to MOBA's).
Scarra - My comparison to an SC2 stream would be Axslav, as he'll explain his thought process regularly, often with deep insight. Plays mid for team Dignitas, one of the top NA teams
Aphromoo - Was introduced at the NA regional finals as the 'human highlight reel' which is apt. Exceedingly talented and stupidly entertaining, he's an AD carry for the up and coming Mme Ferus team.

There's actually tons of good streams, anyone that plays for CLG, Curse, or TSM will have a popular stream that is worth following, you can find these generally at solomid.net/streams

the platforms are global buffs when controlled I think. I thought I heard oddone saying that they get more gold for one of them. A lot more variance I feel in this map, but games seem to go a lot faster!

So everyone is worth 300g at the begginig right?

if there is an assist, the killer gets 300g, the assists are split from a 175g pool?

FB adds 100g to the killer?

How much does the base value, and base assit pool decilne per enemy death? (ie: you kill a champ that is 0/2/0. what is base gold, and assist pool then)
