ryze is only good if he lanes vs a meele attacker, so he can bully in lane. and get his core items early so he can beast in lategame.
if he gets no farm and is forced to farm without a tower ( like in 80 % of the games ), he is useless. and in that scenario singed is one of the best champs in the game ( fast push and can overextend , hard to punish )

i think he was open in all games so far and got picked 1 time ( MIL vs ROC ). he had no farm and no tower, MIL switched fizz to lane against him and he killed him 3 times = gg

What does Singed not being picked have to do with teams not having coaches? Or with Alliance having a bad coach because they didn't pick Singed? Wat?

A coach's role is far broader than dictating picks. In fact I think he shouldn't do that at all. He should approach the game as a whole together with his team (which obviously includes developing pick/ban strategies). Monte had his team read The Art of War. How many of the kids in the LCS do you think have read it? How many have never even heard about it (before Monte had CLG read it, of course)?

I don't know how many of you have read TAoW, but it is extremely applicable to League of Legends every situation in which you have to strategize, including of course strategy games like League of Legends. Mainly because it's fairly abstract, and it gets your brain thinking strategically. If read and discussed in a group, together translating 2500 B.C. Chinese warfare into 21st Century E-sports it should prove immensely fruitful.

I bet Monte didn't even do the most of the Work when transforming CLG into a more objective focused play style. He just sat down with them and had them brainstorm together over how to strategize better. I'm not saying that he didn't lead them where necessary, but I think you get my point. If not, here it is.

A handful of kids (which a LoL team is) need a sort of mentor/guide figure to sit down with them, have strategizing sessions which are moderated by the mentor, make them adhere to a regular practice schedule...

What a LoL team does NOT need is a dude telling them "Pick Singed when he's open!"

The coach doesn't have to be a better player than the players either (obligatory 'Tiger Woods has a coach, too' reference). He needs to have very good game knowledge, needs to be a very good strategist, and he needs to have some charisma/natural authority (call it what you will) so these kids naturally accept him as a leader figure.

Yes, that's not easy to find, but so far there also hasn't really been a demand for this sort of skillset very much. Only now we are seeing coaches hit the scene more and more. Create more demand for good coaches, and they will appear.

There are enough people out there who are just that tiny bit not good enough to make it to pro-player, and who also have good people skills and strategically working brains. And who are passed their, say, 25th year on this planet.

coach = more like a manager, looks out for the team in general, books flights and sets up scrim schedules
analyst = plans picks and bans, lvl 1 and everything that has do it with ingame

What would you have banned? Singed because he gets picked so often? Don`t try to make Singed happen he always will be awful in competitive with this kit.

Its crazy to think that what, 2 years ago, he was considered best jungler world and all the koreans looked up to him.

Nothing I hate more when the jungler goes to my lane and then trades kills. It`s like hey great you got a kill and you ****ed my lane thank you and that`s what Diamond did with Niq trying to get that kill in a huge minionwave.

Always rated Kev1n, he's just never been on an elite team so he rarely gets praise. He kind of reminds me of Dyrus, just super solid, super deep champion pool, doesn't need help to win his lane, plays 1v2s well. You can make a case that he's the best top in EU, especially with SoAz not exactly enjoying this meta.

This Millenium team is solid, can see them grabbing the 3rd EU spot to worlds.
