need to play minmum 1 hand on one or orbit so the blinds wont eat one or just wait for good cards I dont really know but it feels like bingo.... any1 know if 3handed is good for grinding?.

I find it's tougher to beat the rake (at lower limits on pokerstars at least), but I think it's false to believe you have to play a minimum of 1 hand per orbit to stay alive.

I vaguely remember refusing to play 3-handed on Stars because the rake was terrible. They may have changed this, or I might be misremembering, but it's worth checking.

In terms of actual play, I've found that three-handed games feature the worst play in all forms of poker except maybe Razz. So they can be extremely profitable if the rake environment is ok. I don't know that I'd call it "good for grinding" as it's one of the places that most rewards creative play.

I can't speak to the rake stuff but the less players at the table the bigger edge the best player has.

In retrospect, I really wish I had played every game I could get on Stars when I had the chance, absurd rake or no. But my biggest poker weakness has always been being way too nitty.
