Raising pre-drawn in 2-7TD Raising pre-drawn in 2-7TD

I'm fairly new to 2-7TD and sure don't have the finer nuances of the game down but is it normal to raise pre-draw? I mean, if someone was dealt a pat hand I can understand this, but the people who do raise then go on to draw 2 or more new cards. What then are they raising on? Here's the first hand of a game I played the other night:

Seat 1: JJ345 (2000 in chips)
Seat 2: genniepop (500 in chips)
Seat 3: John42560 (2390 in chips)
Seat 4: LIL KOMODO (1570 in chips)
Seat 6: skaredkrow (26445 in chips)
skaredkrow: posts small blind 5
JJ345: posts big blind 10
*** DEALING HANDS ***
Dealt to JJ345 [2d 3c 3s Kh 7c]
genniepop: raises 10 to 20
John42560: raises 2370 to 2390 and is all-in
LIL KOMODO: folds
skaredkrow: folds
JJ345: calls 1990 and is all-in
genniepop: calls 480 and is all-in
Uncalled bet (390) returned to John42560
*** FIRST DRAW ***
JJ345: discards 2 cards [3s Kh]
Dealt to JJ345 [2d 3c 7c] [2c 4s]
genniepop: discards 3 cards
John42560: discards 3 cards

*** SECOND DRAW ***
JJ345: discards 1 card [2c]
Dealt to JJ345 [2d 3c 7c 4s] [4c]
genniepop: discards 1 card
John42560: discards 2 cards

*** THIRD DRAW ***
JJ345: discards 1 card [4s]
Dealt to JJ345 [2d 3c 7c 4c] [6d]
genniepop: discards 1 card
John42560: discards 2 cards

*** SHOW DOWN ***

John42560: mucks hand
JJ345 collected 3000 from side pot
genniepop: mucks hand
JJ345 collected 1505 from main pot
*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot 4505 Main pot 1505. Side pot 3000. | Rake 0
Seat 1: JJ345 (big blind) showed [2d 3c 4c 6d 7c] and won (4505) with Lo: 7,6,4,3,2

I don't know if 2-7TD has a converter so sorry that this is messy. But if I only drew 4 cards, but John42560 drew 7, what do you think his starting hand was to've gone all-in, or, was that just a bluff to induce folds? I only played this hand because I thought it had potential and I think I got pretty lucky.

I don't know either. Look at http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...d.php?t=198344 for reference.

Are you playing this no-limit??? Yikes!!! (Just my opinion).

I don't have a clue as to what was in John's mind. He's evidently drawing to a 3-7. If I did that (went all in, risking 2390 to possibly win 35), it would be a crazy bluff, but maybe John thinks he has a good hand.

Someone else who knows the game better can probably give you a better answer.

also I don't think it's such a bad play. assuming he has 2w7 he has a good chance to double/triple and if not he doesn't have to suffer and bubble.

I guess by "he" you mean John. But since John mucked
3,7,J8,9, he evidently did not have 2w7.
