Yeah he does this every now and then. I think I've been at a table where he's done it 3-4 times, and I actually managed to lose a fair bit one time when he ran hot for a while (I was probably also adjusting poorly).
I played my first ever hands of NL2-7TD because he was sitting in at .25/.50 and shipping $20 a hand. It got very very deep, and I got super unlucky to chop w/ #2 in a ~$300 pot where I was pat OTF and another guy (not capoch) rivered it. I guess at least it didn't turn into a bad beat story...
I'm guessing it's mostly just a boredom thing, but I like to think it's also a nice way for some money to flow from the top of the pyramid down, instead of the other way. So if he does it for that reason as well, then that's pretty cool. It's also fun seeing guys going "OMG, why is he doing this??", "he must have lost so much $$$", and I'm thinking, he's probably lost about .5BB of the stakes he often plays...
Haven't seen him post on 2+2 in while though, not sure if there's a reason behind it or not. Based on his avatars here and on PS, he seems to like Matt Groening animated shows
