Anyone Having trouble starting tables recently?

I'll see 1/2 tables going at 4/8 w/ a waitlist and be unable to get a third started. Usually spend at least 45 mins getting grimmed etc.

If you're happy to play HU PM me or something as I'm happy to give action in order to get a table going.

hallo, i just started a 8-game challenge-thread and made a propbet with a friend. i start today 100$ roll and have to make 4000$ till then end of 2011.
the propbet is about 500€ and if i lose it, ill have to shave my head and wax my whole body on top of that.
for playing 50c/1$ and higher i must at least have 20 full buy-ins.
i wont play anything else on stars. during that time ill play my friday donkaments
on FT.
id appreciate posts in my thread, im going to update it every thursday and sunday.

Edit: Here's a link to the thread.

well, does anybody here have tip how to play small pocketpairs (like 22-77) in LHE from UTG to CUTOFF? i always seem to piss money away when i raise and C-bet, and when i limp i get raised and obv cant rep an Ace or King high flop succesfully.(maybe i ran bad ?)
i already considered openfolding 22-55 UTG and HIJACK.

My crude default strat. for low pairs is to open deuces on the button, tres in the cutoff, fours in the hijack, and so on. There are so many variables involved in playing these hands profitably that I think the play of low pairs really separates the skill level of lhe players.

Most people just fold them too often. If you're hu in lhe then you always need a very compelling reason to fold a pair.

That sounds like an NL mindset. People normally don't fold pairs in lhe so trying to "rep an Ace" is generally just silly. Having a pair is a reason to value bet and get to showdown, not to try and bluff someone.

NL mindset is right. i never really played LHE. and especially 6 max is hard for beginners cause for example 67s ( in general, i thought any small pair, too) is much less worth HU than multiway.
my reads arent bad and i take a lot of notes, but my problem OOP is that i can hardly lead and call a raise on like 3 10 Q with third pair like 66 most of the time.ill try staying smooth and press less OOP. in blindbattles and from button i already play them well, i think.
i will start taking notes on virtually every showdown that happens, no matter if im in.
(is possible, cause i never play more than 4 tables).
ty randomness88 and threads, if you have questions about STUD8 or LO8 just ask me here.

I appreciate your offer to help people. However:
• If anyone has questions about STUD8, even though it's one phase of a HORSE game, I think they'll get better answers in the stud forum than in this thread.
• If anyone has questions about LO8, even though it's one phase of a HORSE game, I think they'll get better answers in the Omaha-8 forum than in this thread.
• If anyone has a question specifically for you alone, then they should send you a private message.

That's how the 2+2 forums are set up.

okay, ty buzz.
next time i have a specific question to one of the 8 games i will directly post my question in that forum. now i remember i saw such a case already before i registered.
and ty for making a link to my 8-game thread here, that was very kind of you.
there is an "other poker" thread on this site (for all the draw games).
maybe 2-7 could have an own forum one day, i think in the playerpool is growing slowly but steady, especially 2-7 TD limit.

With small pocket pairs in short-handed LHE I'm limping hoping to see a cheap flop and I either hit the set or I'm most probably folding if any broadway cards come up on the flop and someone leads out. If everyone folds to me on the button or SB then i open with a raise.

limping in LHE 6max games is not a good idea imo

thanks boeggs and ilovebutton.
i like the tight play postflop that boeggs mentioned, but i do rarely limp.
that makes me choose boeggs tight way in multiway-pots, and if i get the pot HU i am usually check/calling OOP atm (with a few fancy checkraises on boards i dont hate).i already got lots of good feedback here, but BUZZ said we should use the forums of the specific games for questions.... .
i just liked to talk about it here, cause a LHE game isnt the same at 8-game as it is at a LHE-table of equal stakes.
BUZZ, can i maybe keep asking general questions (no handhistory or so) on this thread, i really think that i do get to talk to more players of my kind here and surely these information will give me (us) good enough new input to improve ( i think its even better for the mix ).
i will definantely not encourage anybody to post questions here, but id love to be allowed to ask here, because i prefer various information from mixed-game players, to get an idea of how you can think of situations, than a "like the book" answer from a reg who plays other regs on 12 tables for rakeback. i hope you understand my point BUZZ.
i will, of course, wait for an answer before i post a 2-7 TD case.

My intention was to be helpful rather than authoritarian.

I'm not really very familiar with other 2+2 forums except for the four forums I regularly visit, (1) this forum, (2) the Omaha-8 forum, (3) the mods forum, and (4) the 2+2 Magazine Forum. I'll occasionally follow, for a while, a thread I move to another forum. But otherwise I don't go to other forums much.

HORSE is a mix of five games that are covered elsewhere in strategy forums. H (hold 'em) is covered in a variety of different 2+2 forums. O (usually Omaha-8 in the U.S.A.) is covered in the Omaha-8 forum. R (razz) is covered in the stud forum. S (seven card stud) is covered in the stud forum. E (seven stud, high/low split, eight or better) is covered in the stud forum.

This strategy forum is supposed to be for discussion of draw poker, and various other poker games that are played in casinos and are not covered in other forums.

This eight game mix thread is included because the other games of the eight game mix are games that are regularly discussed in this forum.

Speaking for one other strategy forum with which I'm very familiar, I think you'll get a better discussion of Omaha-8 on the 2+2 Omaha-8 forum than here.

I presume you'll get a better discussion of Texas hold 'em strategy on the appropriate Texas hold 'em forum. And I presume you'll get a better discussion of razz, seven stud high, and seven stud high/low strategy on the stud forum.

BUZZ, can i maybe keep asking general questions (no handhistory or so) on this thread,
I have mixed feelings. I don't want to offend anyone who comes to this forum to discuss some form of casino poker other than Texas hold 'em, stud, or Omaha. There's this one little corner of the poker forum world that has not been overrun by the ubiquitous Texas hold 'em.

But all right, I don't see any harm to it if you keep it in this thread.

I understand your concerns buzz, what i think we really need a seperated "mixed games" forum.or something like this thread, either in this forum or in a totaly new one.maybe we can have a poll
**Official 8 game Poker Stars Thread** Quote

I agree with buzz that you might get a better conversation in lhe forum but I'll add my 2 cents here.

I disagree with the strategy of trying to see a flop cheaply with small pair at most normal 8 game 6 max tables. I think if you're going to play you have to give yourself a chance of getting the pot hu with overcards by open raising and three betting against some late or mid position raisers. I think too many people fold the river with these hands after checking behind on the turn when the person could easily have ace high or some draw.

Live at a full ring table of loose passive calling stations I'd probably overlimp, open limp, and cold call a small pair from anywhere but never online.

sry buzz,i didnt read your post here before i mailed. you can just delete my mail.

ilovebutton mentioned a poll for a seperate 8-game forum, and i support that, especially because we dont have a horse-forum here (horse is great, but dead since 8-game/7-game started online).

imo it would increase the playerpool a bit, which is very good and needed for 50c/1$ and higher (rarely +2 tables at each level from 50c/1$ and higher at non-rush time).

i`d vote YES in a poll for a seperate 8-game(7-game) forum, if it might be possible.

i think after NLHE and now PLO the next big thing will be 8-game (7-game) because of obv reasons, like the variety of skills involved, which attracts experienced players (NL and PLO players, who are bored/ sick of the grind and huge variance).
especially the fun of the mental challenge, the variation of play and last but not least, the impossibility of multimasstabling, does also attract lots of single-tabling recreational players ( i see lots of them when i search players on PS).
i think we need a 8-game forum overall. and it would show other players that its NOT a "multi-masstabling-nit-rakeback-game", and how much more fun it is/can be, for all the reasons i mentioned above and even more.

if 2+2 would make an own 8-game forum, we`d be 2 steps ahead of the pack.

let us start the future, let us make the poll that ilovebutton suggested.
ill put my heart and soul in it.

another reason for a 8-game forum is that stud hi, hi lo, and razz are played on 8 handed tables, not 6 handed like in the mix. and 2-7 TD has no own forum.
i think all 3 stud games and 2-7 are the most important to talk about here,
at least for me, after thinking about it a little longer (other games exist at
6-handed tables and in specific forums).
but thanks to the buzz its still okay to post (few) key-spots of the rest of the mix from time to time. i must say i really like it here.
