break the ten before the first draw? (2-7 TD) break the ten before the first draw? (2-7 TD)

hi guys,

i hope you can help me with my issue.

I open with the best ten 'made' and get called by the SB only who draws three (!!). A good guess is that he has 27. Now, should i break it already or wait what happens after the first draw?

Do you mean you've got the nut ten, i.e. T5432? You have to break this, simply because you've got a dozen outs three times to improve. I know you always seem to hit 2, K, 6 in this situation but that's life.

yeah sorry i should have written more precisely what exactly i had. It was the T7432. So a perfect drawing hand IP or OOP. I just thought this very good ten could be already way ahead of my opponent's hand which was before the first draw a 27 only OOP. But probably i should keep a 97432 maybe, but for sure break the ten. Neither do i keep the ten if he draws two, but three OOP is a hell of a lot imo.

In the actual hand my opp drew three miracles and i broke it immediately then after he stood pat.

If you have T7432 it's even more vital that you break it. Not breaking it is utterly suicidal. With this hand, you have sixteen outs to improve, three times, and half of those outs are to absolute monsters. I even think with 97432 you should draw - I'll wait for someone to back me up (or correct me).

When the draw is to a monster and the draw is about as much of a favorite as the made hand (ie the situation you have here) you lose nothing and gain a lot by drawing. Sure sometimes you'll brick three times and he'll beat you with a Queen or something but that won't cost you much compared with what you win when you both make strong hands -- yours will usually be stronger and can raise and suffer additional action.

a closer decision would be with 95432 PF vs 3carddraw

Yes I agree. In that case I'd pat (95 or any 96).

It helps to see how many cards the opponent draws as a 97 pat doesnt look very bad after a draw or two from a two or one draw or in that order. Not that it gets any value if the opponent gets there but not my must situations for breaking it, though it is just me, and i break such a hand easily early, but lets say big blind draws three, i dont see the point in breaking a 97 then.

YES. break and draw to this 100% of the time in that situation.
