American Player and 5 Cards Draw at PokerStars American Player and 5 Cards Draw at PokerStars

Hello,

5 Cards Draw is the main game in America, a game to play at friday night with friends, at least I think. I play at PokerStars and I have never seen an American Player at Cash Tables. I've seen one American playing at Hight Stakes table.
Why this players prefer virtual cash tables?

5-card draw is definitely no longer the main game in America. Texas Hold 'Em is the main game. But the reason why you see Americans at play money tables only is because the US government has forbidden us from playing for real-money on PokerStars or Full Tilt Poker.

Thanks now I know why. I still think that 5 Card Draw is the more tradictional game at America more them Stud.
In the present is Texas Hold'em, thats obvious!
I don't like Texas Hold'em the River kills everyone and the pre-flop is too complex and with less value.

Before Texas Hold 'Em, Stud and 5 card draw were close in popularity I believe. But since I didn't play poker back then, that's a bit of a guess though. In terms of television/movies though, it was always 5 card draw before the poker boom.

OP, Draw Poker was the number one poker game in the US between ~1860-1986.

After winning the World Series Main Event in the early 1970s, Amarillo Slim wrote a book called Play Poker To Win and it contained many examples of No Limit Draw Poker.

In California, America's most populous state, it was illegal to play stud poker and thus the main games were 5 card draw high and 5 card draw low (aka A5 lowball) in that state. Gardena, a town near Los Angeles, had the most poker clubs per square mile of anywhere in the US and those two games were king. However, in the 1980s a legal ruling made stud legal in California and this allowed Hold'em (which was considered a form of stud) to be played.

Draw Poker remained a home game favorite but amongst serious home game players HE is now the boss.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised that 5-cd draw's popularity began to decrease when CA legalized stud/hold'em. It definitely fell off a cliff with Moneymaker winning the Main Event, however. For home games, i wouldn't doubt 5cd draw remained the favorite until 2003.

And to me, that's a little sad since I think I would rather play 5-cd draw than hold 'em. I definitely would rather play A-5 lowball over hold 'em.

For me, the most under-rated game is A5 High-low Draw Cards Speak. Perfectly viable game but you are more likely to see Big Foot than this game being played.

We like to play this with a declare after the final bet. It just adds a little more intrigue and excitement.

Love me some 5 card draw and miss the extra cash from PokerStars.

There's a pretty famous poker movie way before the boom that was all 5 card stud.

A Big Hand For A Little Lady is just as good as The Cincinnati Kid if not arguably better.

You pays your price and picks your tune.
