Yeah I realise this is the thought process, and that is why I said HBK is slightly overrated (not taking anything away from his in-ring skills), but I dunno, I think that if someone is
so good in one area then it makes them better than someone who was better in other areas (if you'll recall, I claimed Cena was a fantastic pro wrestler earlier).
HHH is my Cena though so I may be biased. I think he would have been a solid upper-midcarder with the odd World title reign (and I liked his first WHC reign as I implied earlier when I said him going over Booker was correct), but he just got waaaaay overpushed through the years. When I stopped watching regularly for a while in the mid 2000s it was mainly because HHH, not Cena, was being pushed too much for me. He was never a star on the level of Austin, Rock, Hogan, Cena no matter how much he wanted to be. Him closing out Mania as the conquering face World champion on a show featuring Hulk Hogan vs. The Rock (and Austin in the midcard, lol) was laughable.
Edit - he has put on some really good matches through the years though, to be fair. I really enjoyed his feud with Foley.
