Wyatt winning would be hilarious

That's a ridiculous match for Dolph to accept, and I do hate the template of "double-dog dare the babyface and the face has to accept because good is dumb." But with that said, before the Wyatt interruption I was thinking that they really need Dolph to catch fire and notch multiple big wins between tonight and SummerSlam to sell the push and make him as believable of a challenger as possible, so I don't mind them manufacturing that setup for it.

Im a Deantractor, but Supremely Confident Dean Ambrose seems to be a damn good character

but yeah, that promo was really good. its amazing that going:

- take people
- make them want to win
- make them show emotion about wanting to win
- make it seem like it matters if they win

and suddenly people are a lot better on the mic

the response of the calm "no youre not. youre not going to do any of that and its not because they are holding you back. its because youre not as good as you think you are" was perfect

I do think this sort of cut both ways. I mean, for my entertainment, I really enjoyed it. It's problematic because, in kayfabe, Dolph really is a loser who isn't a threat and certainly won't take Dean down. It was great at building the match, but was a lot less great at building the non-credible challenger.

That's why I do like that they also set out to hopefully have him notch some big wins over the next few weeks, starting tonight.

Yep. JR set the example of how to be self-aware about being unhip and actually how to use it to your advantage. Mauro seems to come from the Michael Cole school of saying "yeah boyyy" when Flava Flav shows up.

So is Corbin's gimmick "Guy who never loses but also never wins?"

The pop culture references basically wipe out Mauro's main value, namely making the matches seem paramount.

Meltzer was talking just yesterday about how WWE has people find a bunch of pop culture references and just insert them into the announcing and promos.

He said on an AMA that he's a huge pop culture junkie, so these references might be legitimately on him.

thats a good point. i was a bit shortsighted and was excited about them building this specific match but it does hurt long term if we get that into ziggler just losing (which he is right)

They really don't have enough tag teams on SD to be treating Vaudevillains as completely irrelevant jobbers.

i dont mean to do the whole "compared people to people in the past and say they are as good" thing all the time, but Alpha legit reminds me of worlds greatest tag team and i mean that in the absolute best way possible. they were my favorites for ages
