I laughed, but it's not exactly as if Punk is directing this. He probably hates it more than anybody. Maybe a better analogy would be to follow the people who chant this to work and chant their wife's name at them all day long.

if AJ or any other superstar has a problem with someone else's name getting cheered while they are in the ring then the solution is to suck less and get over with the crowd more than whoevers name is being yelled by the fans.

i know that AJ has the burden of being so connected to CJ Punk, being his wife and all, and is more likely to be in his shadow than some other random diva, but there was a time not too long ago when AJ was absolutely killing it, super over with the crowd, and putting on great matches during which nobody chanted Punk's name. iirc people would chant HER name when she wasn't on the screen, actually.

since then, AJ has been a casualty of bad writing/storylines getting stuck with the bellas, but AJ was also horrible in the Paige feud and i can't remember the last time she put on a decent match with anyone

I would strongly disagree that any of this is under AJ's control or influence. There is absolutely nothing she can do in her performance to dissaude a certain faction of the audience from chanting CM Punk. They're just always going to think its the cool thing to do no matter what she does.

my point is that nobody chanted for CM punk back when AJ was putting on good matches and got over with the crowd.

granted, her last good storyline was the love triangle that involved punk to some extent, so maybe that's why they didn't cheer him?

Wasn't that before their marriage was public knowledge or while he was still with the company though? I mean Roman Reigns and John Cena get more **** than anybody, but they don't always chant CM Punk ever single time they're out there.

I agree with OneOut. Those chants happen because a certain sub-group within the smark population decided that the cool way to act during an AJ Lee divas match is to chant Punk's name. They're not doing it because she's performing badly.

Another quote from the same interview:

Quote:
There’s so many people that can gather up in the ring. You turn your back on one guy and the next thing you know you’re head over heels and you’re on the floor.
I guess that is something he was really thinking about at the Royal Rumble then?

That was really well done. It would have taken quite a bit of effort to source out the footage and plan it.

that was great

RKO out of nowhere was the best IMO

I will note though that at no point was punching involved

Is it weird that I'm somewhat stunned they let the tag team champs beat the matadors on Smackdown?

So Axel's new gimmick was that he never got thrown out of the Rumble and it's kinda cool, better than anything else he's ever done, but why did he start imitating Hogan? Where did that come from? What does Hogan have to do with the Rumble?

I love it. Often imitated but never eliminated

Question to some of you folks who have been watching Smackdown for a while. Was the Daniel Puder/Kurt Angle/Big Show a work or a shoot?
**WWE Raw/Smackdown Viewing Thread** Quote

I have no idea about the Big Show thing but Angle and Puder was 100% a shoot. Puder caused a lot of problems backstage and was almost universally disliked by the roster at the time. This was apparently his punishment. I couldn't find better footage but it's the 2005 Royal Rumble.
