Did JR refer to Ambrose as a "double tough individual" while he was in your head?

2014 HUMAN OF THE YEAR: STEPH! STEPH! STEPH!

I cared about this until Nikki showed up. Steph is real awesome, but the real life sisters pretending to fight thing just can't get me to suspend disbelief without much better acting (and Nikki was better than expected). I'm all for a Steph angle, I'm way less interested (although I understand there's an audience than is) in the Bella twins.

Luke Harper forever

I could watch 800 minutes of this match (600 would be Henry gasping for breath).

I love how they're building Rowan up as a big ole' strong (note how much easier Cesaro got Show up) monster. Nice to see the WWE seems to know what they've got with Harper and Rowan.

WHAT? IT WAS FOR CHARITY

I have two spare monitors at home and they're just going to loop that moment forever.

Somebody let the bad booking gremin back in the building

If they fired the timekeeper, how does the sound guy keep his job? These distraction attempts would be a lot less effective if the WWE staff wasn't complicit in the shenanigans. Kane should maybe do a better job.

After such a good match last night, I wish they would have had something a bit more interesting for Paige and AJ to do. This is going to get stale without a new direction.

We Are All Paul Heyman People

I don't care what you do, you're not as good at it as Paul Heyman is at his job. The Paul Heyman of NASA would have drinking at the cool bars on Jupiter. Amazing. The mostly earnest build up of Cena was great. I was almost worried Brock was going to beat him for it.

You really gotta pull the weed out by the roots

'Cause if not, you'll just get more Ziggler/Miz. I was really hoping this was the blowoff and not an obvious exercise in "Oh don't you worry, you'll get more of this". I'm trying to like Ziggler, but Miz just does nothing for me and I find myself just not caring about the matches.

I'd need some inspiration after getting beat by THAT jobber

Cesaro and Bo looking rather not buried. Yeah, I wish Cesaro had more to do than be a plot device in a Swagger/Bo feud, but if this is what I get, I'll take it. Bo is fantastic.

Roman's a 9:00 guy, Dean's 10:30

That whooshing sound you heard was Dean's push rushing past yours Roman. I think I hit my turning point with Roman when 1- I was getting really worried his music would hit during the Heyman/Brock stuff 2- I was really thankful Randy ended his finishing sequence. I hate RVD, I shouldn't be happy to see RVD get the finish instead.

This was fine, I assume it's mostly giving RVD shine before he bounces and doing whatever it's going to do for Randy. They just really need to mix up Roman's stuff, because it's getting more and more predictable and uninteresting. I keep trying to rationalize it, but then they keep going back to the jumping rope kick thing and I'm flabbergasted that they think that's a good idea.

Dirty Face Painted Heel Bastards

I don't know if the Usos planned to work heel this whole match or just made that change when they realized what was up, but it was welcome. I'm just overjoyed they seem to be doing something with the Dust Brothers and with the tag belts. If that also means the Usos become interesting ('cause I think they could be way more as heels) I'm all for it.

SEXUAL PATRIOTISM

Well d'uh, Mark Henry is the obvious counter to Lana.

This was really great- Henry's promo was hot as hell. It's realy easy (see JBL) to come off as really corny and forced when getting worked up about these insults against our country. Henry's anger felt like it came from a credible place. Rusev still selling the ankle keeps him looking strong enough, and Henry still comes off as a beast. Good stuff.

I was bothered though, because they just introduced Henry as part of a new team, Henry had mentioned on the Cheap Heat podcast that it was a long term thing, and I'm more personally invested in a good tag division than I am a good Rusev feud, so I was distracted by wondering what this all means. (in a sense this also helped, because you got the feeling Henry was so upset that he just had to come out and say something regardless of what else was going on).

Dean Ambrose is an absolute ****ing superstar

I loved everything about this. Giving us an awesome PPV match the night before that got a bunch of dudes PPV checks AND made brilliant use of the gimmick, and then coming back the next night with the match everybody really wanted. You keep things super hot, but also give a good reason to keep Dean off TV for a while (because Dean's the best thing, but he needs to be given out in small servings for a while) and make whenever he shows back up to piss in Seth's coffee that much more awesome.

I just felt like this was a really special moment in making a superstar. Dean was already something big, but this felt elevating. Really great.

LET ME SUM UP

I thought this RAW did a good job of building on the momentum of Summer Slam. Maybe a bit more of some storylines that I would have preferred have ended, but overall a lot of great stuff. Happy to see them stick the landing at a time when it felt like maybe they needed to.

1- There's like no way they didn't know what they were doing.

2- The result didn't matter, they were going to have this match regardless. Save a few pin spots, this would have looked the same under either stip.

**** YEAH DEAN AMBROSE

Despite suffering what was deemed to be extensive head and spine trauma after being Curb Stomped through a pile of cinder blocks by Seth Rollins on Raw, Dean Ambrose has not only refused treatment but is reportedly missing after escaping WWE medical personnel altogether.

Can we talk about how much their Smackdown/Main Event guy ****ing sucks? Or how they had a wrestling diary that was 3 pages of a vegan food log before it talked about wrestling? Or how Uproxx (which also hosts Flimdrunk, one of my favorite sites) is just godawfully designed?
