2002 came after the grisly murder of the Intercontinental Title, so that checks out. We didn’t realize at the time that them giving Val Venus that belt was the end of it all.

WWE actually having a supergroup called "The Corporate Ministry" probably doesn't get the level of derision it deserves. Combining those groups was ridiculous. I assume it just gets forgiven because the theme mash-up was so elite.

A profitable and corrupt religious cult as a heel gimmick seemed far too realistic and modern at the time for WWE. I'm used to them being several years behind pop culture for everything they shoved down our throats.

Last couple nights I've been sleeping to King of the Ring PPVs. This morning I awoke just in time to see the UT-Mankind Hell in a Cell match. You could have given me 10 guesses which PPV it occurred at and I wouldn't have said King of the Ring.

I saw their Boiler Room Brawl a few days ago. Wasn't as cool as I remembered. It was a year or two before I was able to track the VHS of SummerSlam 96 at a rental store. 9-10 year old me wanted to see that match really bad!

Just remembered many times begging my mother to shell out 30 ****ing 1993-4 dollars as a little kid to watch that stuff. Unfathomable. She never did, outside of my brother getting Royal Rumbles for his late January bday party.

Totally agree. I loved it as an 11 year old kid and I love it now. When I became a part of the forum world, I was shocked that it's so hated.

Back when we did the WrestleMania writeups (which I didn't complete), I was keeping a ranking of every WM match as we went. I had ranked the first 179 matches when I fell off and didn't continue.

Huh. I guess I am in the hate group. I kind of doubt I've seen the match since, and I'm not tempted to fire it up or anything, but it doesn't seem unreasonable for people to have enjoyed it. My own recorded hate for it doesn't quite seem to blend with how I remember it.

I assure you that you would not like to rewatch Taker vs. Sid. Over 20 minutes of those two doing ****ing NOTHING. It's awful. It's like if Roberts-Rude had been the main event of a WrestleMania and didn't have a 15-minute time limit to put us out of our misery. But now that I've properly warned you: have at it.

Piper-Goldust deserves more than 0* just because the stiff brawling in the alley was actually not bad at all. But the painfully forced white Bronco chase up the freeway during the subsequent Savio-Austin match has to count as part of it, and the in-ring conclusion was horrible. It would still rate badly for me.

I could post the whole list I guess, but that's a pretty massive wall of text to drop into the thread.
