It really was great. Though I only really remember the cage match in June and the Vengeance (?) match from later in the year. But they were stellar together.

Vince's decision to continue taping new content has finally convinced me to cancel my subscription. I should have canceled after all the Saudi stuff.

Now an on-screen (but not in-ring) talent has tested positive and there's still no immediate decision to cease production.

Still haven't given them a dime since they started the Saudi stuff. This is particularly egregious.

Only if its a double shot with the original footage of the people writing "American Males"

Jimmy Hart and Howard Helm did American Males and most of the 90s WCW themes. Talk about hitting highs and lows. The same guys that did 4 Horsemen and Sting's crow theme also did all the Nirvana and Pearl Jam rip offs. You have good and bad days I guess.

I just reupped after a 1 year hiatus. Nothing else to watch right now, so I'll binge watch all the old school stuff from the Golden Era and then cancel again.

Update: Linda McMahon is running a super PAC. On April 9th she used it to donate $18,500,000 to the state of Florida. They got deemed an "essential service" to keep business operations going the same day. On April 10th WWE announced starting live tapings again.

Just an incredible amount of corruption so that a billionaire can continue putting his employees in harms way in an effort to make money. Please note that WWE has recently had one of their employees test positive. Vince is a colossal piece of ****.

Praise be to NJPW who put their workers health above all.

That's not exactly accurate. They reversed the decision after MLB proposed having their seasons start in Arizona and Florida with no fans.

I don't think they would have included "entertainers" if it were just for baseball.

OK finally reached the end of WCW and ECW, crazy they both folded at simalar times.

The Monday simulcast was crazy, Vince must have felt on top of the world. Pretty cool that he worked in the Shane ownership angle

Now I get to be surprised with who were the lucky superstars who ended up popping up on WWF TV over the next months

April-November was a dizzying time in WWF. Could even extend that as far as 2004.

The post WCW buyout through wrestlemania 19 is some of the most interesting wrestling times there have been. There are so many potential huge angles, so many stars coming and going, and so many chances to make new people or have the top stars stay on top in that time period. You're in store for some good stuff.

Keep your expectations low. They don't necessarily get all the contracted WCW wrestlers. And man did they botch this angle by...

Spoiler:
...making it all about the McMahons! I still vomit in my mouth a little when I think of the Stephanie led ECW and how, by the end, WWE guys Steve Austin and Kurt Angle are leading a group of invaders.

Nice looking forward to it!

So far Rhyno has won the Hardcore title, we have had a shot of WCW contracted wrestlers in the crowd at Wrestlemania 2001 and Lance Storm just did a run in during a Raw us War in Canada to a huge pop. Raven and Justin Credible (creating XFactor with Albert and XPac) have joined.

I'm guessing the big Big names are negotiating very hard at this time

Austin turning heel seemed a bit premature to me at Wrestlemania X7 since he was still mega over but he is doing a great job pissing off the fans

I could have gone the rest of my life without being reminded of the xfactor uncle kraker theme lol

You're correct about big names/wwe negotiating hard. I'm looking forward to seeing you work through this time period because it's one of the most discussed spans in wrestling history.

For some reason, the bigger contracts weren't tied to the WCW asset that WWE bought. The contracts were with the parent company and for much more money than Vince wanted to pay these guys.

The problem was that they were making more money sitting at home, doing nothing than they would have had they foregone their contracts and went to work for Vince.

This really crippled the invasion angle.

I'm not going to claim that this is the best match of all time or anything. But when taking everything into account, this is my favorite one by far. I was going to link a specific aspect of the match, but I can't think of just one thing that stands out. Instead, I'm just going to link to the match itself along with the promo and a quick list at the bottom with some awesome moments. If you have the time to rewatch it, I can't fathom you being upset that you did.

My Favorite Match:
Spoiler:
Triple H vs Cactus Jack
Street Fight
Royal Rumble 2000

Promo
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3

To me, this match was a microcosm of what wrestling should be. The angle unfolded perfectly. The "pull off the shirt metamorphasis" is extremely difficult to capture in a believeable manner, but due to Triple H's selling of it as the dark, psychotic side of Mick Foley and our (as fans) ability to relate to the "enough is enough" mentality, it was able to work. It also didn't hurt that they pulled Mick off of TV matches once the metamorphasis occured, as the Cactus mystique grew with aired footage of Japanese Death matches.

The match itself was even better than anything we could have imagined. The chair shot (Part 1: 3:10) at the beginning set the tone for just how brutal the match would get. Three minutes into the match brought a shot that could legit end most title matches. Knowing that we were not peaking this early, you got the feeling that this was going to get ugly.

Once the 2x4 wrapped in barbed wire came out (part 2: 0:45), the brutality escalated to previously unknown heights (for the WWF anyways). The crowd reactions from this moment on are perhaps my favorite parts of the match. It's as if everyone there - at the 10 minute mark of a WWF Title match - knows they are watching something special. In particular, the crowd reactions at Part 2: 2:52; 3:10, 3:20, and 3:41 are amazing. The best/loudest crowd reaction I can recall in my history of WWF watching occurs at Part 3: 8:23.

I do have one complaint about the match, and that's the part with The Rock saving a handcuffed Mick. I understand the symbolic guesture considering it was exactly a year after The Rock destroyed a handcuffed Mick with 12-14 chair shots, but I just think it detracted from the intensity and flow of the match.

Most importantly, this match did something that is unheardof now a days: it got both of them even more over than at the start of the match. Mick took a hell of a beating and kept getting up; He even kicked out of a pedigree right at the end. It added to his persona of being able to take ridiculous amounts of punishment and keep getting up as well as showing us a sadistic side of a wrestler we had perceived to be mostly a loveable loser for the better part of a few year. Triple H came out of it as a better champion. He took a massive beating, and ended up beating Cactus Jack straight up in his own match. When's the last time we've seen two guys able to get each other over in the same match?

Anyways, I know this has ridiculously long, but it's 4am and I have nothing better to do. I had watched the match again recently, and was just happy to find a place to at least write down my appreciation of this match.

Highlights:

Part 1: 3:10 - chair shot set the tone for just how intense it would be
Part 2: 0:45 - changes from lol standard hardcore match to oh **** this is getting serious
Part 2: 2:52; 3:10, 3:20, 3:41, - crowd reaction, so into it
Part 3: 8:23 - loudest crowd reaction I can recall
also good to know the werewolf wasn't the cause of me writing walls of text lol
