I meant generic questions that could be asked of any of the wrestlers of the Golden Age. I witnessed their career through the eyes of a 9 year old, I want to know what the experience was like from the other side.

Yes, but no matter what, who it is changes the suggestions we'd make.

WTH. What reason could you possibly have for not wanting to say who it is? Scared someone here will get to him first?

What a strange thing to post and not mention who it is.

Id say theres a very high chance that he is going to dinner with a corpse/skeleton or an urn

Generic questions will get generic answers that would be common knowledge by now. If you told us who it was we could probably come up with much more interesting subjects to discuss. For example a guy from WCW in the 80s might have had a very different experience than someone from the WWF.

This is probably correct.

It matches up with being able to make it happen, but Virgil being one of someone's favorite wrestlers from the 80s is hard to imagine.

Narrowing it down by someone who can qualify as someone's favorite wrestler 30 years ago, who is still alive now, my advice would be this: Don't let Hogan near your wife and don't offer to hold the video camera.

Watching Survivor Series '89. Bret Hart tagging in, and Randy Savage retreating from him, is a pretty crazy show of respect from Savage at that stage in their careers. Bret wasn't even a full-time singles guy by then, and Savage's heel character wasn't so cowardly to make that kind of retreat a regular practice.

Monsoon always put Bret over especially hard. This all seems doubly strange to me since I was a big Hart Foundation mark who went many years not buying into Bret as a singles star. I think Neidhart was always the biggest reason I liked the tag team.

There are popular wrestlers who I loved, and popular wrestlers who I didn't love but easily understood how others did.

Hacksaw Jim Duggan is in neither of these categories. It's always been a total mystery to me that he was so wildly over. I realize that ringwork was all but a null factor in WWF crowd reaction in the 80s, but it's not like he was cutting great promos, and nothing about his look could have helped him unless I'm severely underrating relatability.

He was someone you could have a beer and wave a 2x4 with

He carried a USA flag and had a one word catchphrase.

idk about that, tough guy!

Catchphrases weren't such a huge deal then.

Basically I accept that he was more charismatic than he ever comes across to me, but again I just don't see it. Obviously I see it with the likes of Sid or even a son of a ***** like Nash.

The thing I remember most about Duggan is the glitch in the Sega version of the Royal Rumble game where you could make him just run forever when you excuted his finisher.

Duggan is way less of a mystery to me than someone like Tommy Dreamer.

The standard for ECW fans was all about willingness to bump. Granted that I still share your awe to a certain extent since Dreamer was insanely uncharismatic where other major ECW stars all had charisma, but I can sort of wrap my mind around Dreamer. Sort of.

Ive been trying to pinpoint the fapworthy bit without spoiling anything

Was it Austin choosing the hardway in the following Raw after WM14 and stunning Mcmahon, then getting arrested?

Was it fake corporate Austin?

I just watched Unforgiven 98 (PPV after Mania) and Mcmahon took an awesome unprotected chair shot to the head, was that it?

If said fap moment happens after this PPV dont spoil lol
