Abyss did an AMA and confirmed that WWE offered him a match vs Taker at WM and he turned it down. Has to be one of the worst career moves I've ever heard.

Apparently this is old news and he talked about it on JR's podcast. He said it was in 2006 and they offered him a main event level push but he wanted to stay loyal to TNA.

I understand they need the Mexican market but I still don't get the appeal of ADR. There's MUCH better talent on the roster that deserves his spot.

The appeal of ADR is obvious, once you look at him from Vince's point of view. He's tall and has a good body. Those two alone have been enough to keep Sheamus in the main event scene for a long time. Add to that the fact that he's Hispanic and you have have a multi-time champ on your hand.

I didn't get Del Rio in WWE but then I saw him in other promotions. WWE makes him talk in a forced manner (his accent is very different when he cuts promos in WWE than when he does shoots and cuts promos elsewhere), and act chill instead of fiery. It kills his natural charisma.

They don't care though because they just want a big good looking guy who can read off the garbage scripts without being hard to understand.

The thing from me, reading WAY to much into that poster, is that Reigns is on the heel side, while Rollins is on the face side. Rollins coming back and being built a the top face while Reigns went the other way would be great. Don't trust them to do it obviously.

The literal reading of that poster is 6 person intergender match to main event the Sumerfest with John Cena as the special guest referee.

This. If you saw Alberto El Patron last year in Licha Underground, you would have seen what he can do. They killed him out of the box pairing him with Zeb in that stupid Mex America thing. How many of you already have forgotten about that?

Do we even know if that poster is legit? I know they announced today that tickets will be on sale soon for it in Brooklyn, but it certainly wouldn't be the first time I've seen a fake show poster on this forum.

They put them together to try and save his job b/c he sucks and the majority of non latino fans don't like him.

The only reason he's back is b/c the numbers in Mexico were falling.

There's a second reason--to hurt other promotions (AAA and Lucha Underground in this case).

Even if ADR is a complete flop in the WWE, he's a success because AAA/Lucha Underground haven't been able to use him.

I read a thing - maybe it was even here - talking about some of the NXT signings were for that exact purpose. They had no plans to move them to the main roster, it was just for them to join NXT and not be able to compete in NJPW etc

I think it is to both hurt the competition (or block any competition from developing) and help themselves. NXT is a touring brand now so they do want it to draw.

Not only that, but the NJPW signings coincided with the WWE making the Network available in Japan

Yeah, I mentioned that a month or so ago questioning if it was in good faith to help their product or to simply kill NJPW because their (now former) president Kidani embarrassed WWE last year and because NJPW is trying to create a presence here in the US.

Bray Wyatt has a "serious" back injury. That's why the Road Block match was changed to Harper/Lesnar and why Wyatt wasn't on Raw this past Monday.

That does sound way more realistic than WWE actually having a plan for him.

it's sort of incredible how they can be in a position where bray (one of their top heels) and the wyatt family can LITERALLY be without any sort of feud or storyline 2 weeks before wrestlemania. like how can something like that even happen? it doesn't even have to be good! want to add another random divas match? just have lana interfere in brie's matches for no reason whatsoever. completely illogical, but it's a storyline/feud at least. how the wyatt family completely fell through the cracks is unbelievable to me.

anyway, meltzer reported that the injury isn't serious and won't keep him from competing if he has to. also says they have big plans for him in 2016. maybe "big plans" means he will have a feud.

Maybe Big Plans means they literally plan to feed him until he's the size of Yokozuna and can just sit on opponents.
