It's not at all difficult to make him a credible main event guy. I picked him in my first draft and made him my first world champion; it didn't feel like a stretch at all.
I mean in terms of kayfabe accomplishments, you can say that Hennig and Rude outpaced Jake due to IC title reigns, but Jake was every bit on their level in terms of profile. DiBiase never held a singles title despite appearing in a couple of main events in his career. I don't think he's any more of a "career midcarder" than those guys. Granted I would have at least Hennig and DiBiase higher on my list, but I think the profile is similar. And I prefer Jake to Rude, though I do love Rude.
