Wrestling Draft 2014 Wrestling Draft 2014

01-30-2014 , 06:35 PM
The goal is to draft the best wrestling federation. Every wrestler ever is available to draft. You will get each wrestler you draft for their entire careers, including all good and bad stuff.

12 drafters, max 50 picks each, can stop drafting whenever. Double picks from round 11. Draft format is ABBABABAB etc.

6 hour clock with an 8 hour deadzone from 12am-8am EST. If you get skipped your clock gets reduced by an hour going forwards. PMing the next person to pick is encouraged but not getting a PM is not an excuse for getting skipped.

Writeups are strongly encouraged, as is starting your writeup with a youtube link of your pick's entrance music.

Draft order:

Spreadsheet.

Think that's it. If I forgot to mention something ask away.

If you want any help with building the foundation of the spreadsheet, make it public and I can do that.

Also #4 is a beat, especially with a pro like yankeys at the top of the order. Have a hunch about who I end up with first.

Oh, one more important rule that I forgot to mention:

NO MENTIONING UNDRAFTED WRESTLERS.

I'm assuming it's the same rules as always. If you draft certain people you only get their on screen character, you can't have them booking your federation?

Correct.

do we want to treat tag teams the same as always (i.e, you need to spend two picks on them?)

i would propose that tag teams composed of two wrestlers who had virtually no singles success be able to be drafted as a unit with a single pick. obviously it is a bit unclear as to what qualifies as a "singles career", but unless people are really going to try and angle i think we're all on the same page.

so to use an example:

legion of doom and demolition would be draftable as a single unit.

steiner brothers and money inc. will cost you two picks.

[SORRY ABOUT NAMING UNDRAFTEDS I WILL DELETE IF PEOPLE GET PANTIES BUNCHED]

any thoughts?

edit: its obv a slippery slope but it just seemed silly to me in prior drafts when tag member #1 got drafted and the owner waited until like round 100 to draft the second member. imo thats much worse that just treating them as one

I'd rather each wrestler have to be drafted individually. I'll go with the majority though.

I think that drafting tag teams together is just too problematic. I would vote for drafting them individually too. If you're running a company long-term then a lot of wrestlers would get more than one partner along the way.

ok i dont care a whole lot either way maybe its best to just stick to what we usually do then
Spoiler:

*looks forward to holding Rick Steiner hostage from someone*

I do agree with this though and am hereby announcing that I will be spite sniping tag partners if someone waits too long.

Well, sorry guys in advance, I generally am going to be posting from a phone or tablet so no spoiler tags, but here we go:

With the first overall pick I select:

Hulk Hogan.

Hogan was the biggest star in probably 2 of the 3 biggest and most popular eras of American professional wrestling (certainly of my lifetime) and that's just impossible for me to ignore. He has some obvious negatives, but his positives far outweigh them in my mind.

Needs more Real American.

Correct #1 pick imo.

Real American is just so GOAT. I have no idea what my second-favorite entrance theme is, but that's the best.

Real American is probably my all time favourite entrance too and I'm not even American. Hogan had pretty GOAT music all round actually.
