Steel Cage - Stone Cold Steve Austin vs Vince McMahon - St. Valentine's Day Massacre (7:52)

Possibly the biggest rivalry in the history of wrestling, and this is the only one on one match they had iirc (not counting that thing on RAW where Foley interfered as Dude Love). The crowd were red hot for this one as they finally get to see their hero beat up the evil boss for the best part of half an hour (but only 7:52 bell to bell). Also features the debut of Big Show in what was a genuine surprise to me; I was watching this live and had no idea they'd signed The Giant, and I used to read a lot more wrestling stuff than I do now. Maybe I just missed it somehow though. Also, I know I have a Hell in a Cell match already, but this is one of those old school cages that the officials build before the match, so it works.

Anyway, with a fun half hour of action for the price of just under 8 minutes, I'm happy with this pick. It was also a #1 contender match, setting up a match between prime Austin and prime Hogan at my next show

This match features an incredibly hot crowd and stiff working by design. It’s not a technical match; it’s 8 minutes of them beating the hell out of each other (legitimately, in a sense; they had a rule that they were allowed to throw shoot moves at each other, just not to the face or genitals). The Von Erich/Freebirds feud had been going on for over a year and a half by this point, yet still was on fire. Anything goes match. I think you have to say this is one of the best drawing feuds of all time, given how much World Class grew because of it.

After missing out on lots of great matches by being away, I had 2 choices. Pick the best matches left, or pick a card of matches that I remember watching multiple times as a kid. So this is now officially a "Hempy Reminisces Card"

Chris Jericho was the only reason to watch WCW by this point. I could have chosen this or the "1004 holds" promo, but as this was at least supposed to be a match, and has 2 major botches in 3 minutes, its perfect for my card.

The atmosphere of this is tremendous, especially the finish. And wanted to get Bulldog on my card somehow, RIP.

This is my favourite Kurt Angle match. I'm probably the only one who thinks that but oh well! Yes there's the hideous unbreaking glass, yes Kurt's arm is cut to shreds, but I love how this match is put together, any match with all these spots, and then a unique finish always makes me happy. EDIT: I'd completely forgot this was also Kurt's 3rd match that night!
