Bootcamp Match - Sgt. Slaughter vs The Iron Sheik - MSG June 1984 (15:57)

A classic brawl between a huge fan favourite and one of the most hated heels of all time. Slaughter was getting Hogan-sized pops around this time and the Sheik always drew huge heat, meaning that the crowd was super hot for this match and it didn't disappoint. I now have a card full of drawing power, great wrestling, great brawling, and great moments.

Spoiler:
My Card (1:50:01):

WWF Championship
Hulk Hogan (c) vs Andre The Giant - Wrestlemania 3 (12:01)

NWA Championship
Ricky Steamboat (c) vs Ric Flair - Landover House Show 3/18/89 (31:15)

Hell in a Cell
Shawn Michaels vs The Undertaker - Badd Blood: In Your House (30:00)

Retirement Match
Randy Savage vs Ultimate Warrior - Wrestlemania 7 (20:48)

Bootcamp Match
Sgt. Slaughter vs The Iron Sheik - MSG June 1984 (15:57)

Fifth Pick:

Spoiler:
I’m going to take maybe the most obscure Meltzer 5* match in U.S. wrestling history. It wasn’t in the NWA, it wasn’t in the WWF, it wasn’t in ROH, it wasn’t in TNA, it wasn't in ECW, it wasn’t pre-Wrestlemania.

Spoiler:
Teams up With 1/2 half of the:

Spoiler:
In total, one side is: Tazz, Stan Lane, Kevin Sullivan, Tom Pritchard, Killer Kyle

AND THE OPPONENTS:

Spoiler:
Does Anybody remember who used that theme?

Spoiler:
It was the Rock N Roll Express, and they team with Brian Lee, Jimmy Golden, and Robert Fuller.

Spoiler:
I couldn't find a copy of this match so far; it's possible one does not exist even. This is a War Games match (AKA Rage in a Cage) from Jim Cornette's promotion, Smoky Mountain Wrestling's Volunteer Slam (1993). It has two of the most underrated wrestlers in wrestling history (Morton and Lane), and IIRC the ending involves them, but I won't spoil it in case this match is actually still floating around out there.

Just to recap, the participants are: Brian Lee & Jimmy Golden & Ricky Morton & Robert Fuller & Robert Gibson vs. Kevin Sullivan & Killer Kyle & Stan Lane & Tazz & Tom Prichard

The match clocks in at 23:40. Link where I got that from:

Spoiler:
Card So Far:

For the Real World Championship
Flair vs. Steamboat (Champion) Wrestlewar 89 (31:37)

For the WWF title:
Andre vs. Hogan The Main Event (9:07)

Kurt Angle vs. HBK Wrestlemania 21 (27:25)

Steve Austin vs. The Rock WM 19 (17:53)

Rage in a Cage: (23:40)

I really love how this has more or less just become a competition to find the most obscure high quality matches with two camps, one drawing from the indies and Japan and the other from the classics.

There are a bunch of very high profile undrafteds that have been talked about at length in the forum over the last couple of weeks that have been completely ignored because of this.

and as i type that right on cue is mooro drafting a match that possibly doesnt exist on film

That was quite impeccable timing, I must say. My initial plan (obviously based on my 1st four picks) wasn't to find obscure matches, but I wanted a War Games match, I wanted Morton and Lane, I wanted some high fliers, and I wanted another 5 star match, so it just fills so many needs.

I had 2 SMW matches on my list and haven't found videos for either; WWE has done a pretty good job of locking them up I guess.

If i draft a match to use it as a dark match before the show, firstly can i do that, secondly does it count as bell to bell time off my clock?

(fwiw ill probably still do it if it does, but its easier if it doesnt or if we all get a freebie dark match that doesnt count or whatever)

Am I not allowed to draft a match for an indie heavyweight championship since I already have a WCW and WWF championship match, or can I bill an indie championship as a mid card title?

6. The same title cannot be defended twice on your card, unless again you're taking both specific matches in which the title was defended that night.
To be clear...
WWF Title = WWE Title = Undisputed Title
WCW World Title, NWA World Title, and WWE World Heavyweight Title are all different from each other despite all utilizing the big gold belt.
Obviously you can branch out and take other world titles, but you may only have two world title matches at a maximum on your card. There are no other title match limitations as long as the titles are unique from each other.
The WWE US Title, WCW US Title, NWA US Title...that's all the same title. The history is unbroken. If in doubt about whether a title counts as the same or not, ask me.
In general it would be against the spirit if not the literal interpretation of the rules that you can bill a heavyweight belt from PWG or whatever as a midcard belt, however there might be an exception depending exactly what it is.

I mean you can call part of your card a dark match if you like. I'd rather avoid giving away freebies that don't count against your time total, because your opponents should be able to look at your board and know (hypothetically), "Okay, Phill can't snipe me, he only has 21 minutes left" or whatever.

Unfortunately the last pick came just after the 5:00 EST hour, so we've got yet another situation where the dead zone could cause a full 14-hour gap between picks. It's the middle of the night where ginger and LordCC are at, so I'd expect that things will hopefully resume during what is the middle of the night for those of us on this side of the Atlantic.

Obviously in the future, when we see the 5:00 hour coming and we're lingering in that part of the order, someone should throw up this SOS signal telling the person on the clock to hurry up and get the pick in.

The official time for the Bootcamp match was 16:02 and not 15:57 as I originally posted. I just timed it from the youtube vid, but after looking at that site moorobot posted, it appears to have missed a few seconds. My time remaining is now 24:54.

Also the date was 6/16/84.

RoH World Champion Bryan Danielson vs. Kenta
32:20

This match is one of the best matches of all time from a pure workrate standpoint in my opinion. The story told of Bryan Danielsons injured shoulder throughout the match ws great. Kenta was being built as a monster running through the american indys whos who. That is untill he met the American Dragon Bryan Danielson, with an injured shoulder was able to dish it out and wouldn't give up and eventually getting the tap out. This was by FAR the best match in 2006 in the world, let alone RoH

And with the 5th pick of my draft I pick a very underrated tag match, from TNA

Spoiler:

I'm going to skip the intros
From TNA No Surrender 2010
TNA Tag Team Championship Match
Motor City Machine Guns vs. Generation me

What can say, in black abyss this match and this feud was a shining light. This was kind of a last hurrah for what mde TNA great to begin with and that's the X-Division. You have Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin as one of the best tag teams in the world against an upcoming tag team in Generation Me/Young Bucks. I think this would be a great opener for my card. Plus the fact that Gen Me was such a quck replacement, made this a great tag match.

12:50

Spoiler:

Main Event
Ric Flair vs. Terry Funk I Quit "Clash of the Champions"

Co-Main Event
RoH World Championship Match
RoH Champion Bryan Danielson vs. KENTA

Samoa Joe vs Kenta Kobashi

ECW TV Title Match
RVD vs Jerry Lynn (Living Dangerously)

TNA Tag Team Championship
TNA Tag Team Champions MCMG vs Gen Me

It kinda should explain my hatred for the do fixer vs blood generation match. I thought Danielson vs KENTA was so much better in a lot of different ways.
