Owen's episode further cements Martha and his family is (rightfully so) never going to allow Vince to put him in the HOF/profit off him ever again. While it was tragic what happened to him, it was refreshing that they chronicled someone who wasn't a total POS, that loved their family and the business

Martha's evidence about the clip holding Owen was really the only new information in this story, but yeah, most subjects have been about murder, drugs or some illegal activity.

The only other one I can think to compare it to is the Von Erichs. Not that they weren't dealing with drugs, but when you base the entire story around Kevin, you feel terribly for what he's experienced.

Yeah, I didn't know about the clip, but that seems incredibly bad. I mean, I know everyone hates Vince McMahon, but pretty much every new thing I learn from this Vice documentary just makes him worse and worse.

Seeing Jim Cornette get emotional and shed tears during the Owen episode was pretty jarring.

I'm at a point where I feel it's unlikely I learn anything new about the Owen tragedy, since I've ingested every account I've ever come across, but I'll still keep watching any new material that gets released.

Ever since seeing the clip of him saying it in a shoot interview, I will forever associate Honky Tonk Man with being the ******* who said, "Hey, I liked Owen, but the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, and of course the show should have gone on. If someone dies in a car accident, they don't shut down the highway for any longer than it takes to clear the scene."

I came across a tweet in Evan Husney's feed that indicated Brian Pillman and Jake Roberts will be featured in Season 3.

Would Jake be the first one that featured a still living wrestler?

EDIT: No, I'm just remembering the David Schultz episode.

New Jack
Montreal Screwjob

Plus I believe that all but two of the Brawl For All contestants are still alive.

Any idea what the topics will be this season?

I haven't seen any new topics. As a matter of fact, the latest show is a rehash of the Gino Hernandez episode with an additional half hour of footage and follow up.

Apparently, Jimmy Snuka married Gino Hernandez's mother. And then Jimmy Snuka's mother married Gino Hernandez grand-father. And it sounded like all this was after Snuka maybe murdered that girl.

Meltzer mentioned some of the topics on his show 2-4 months ago and also mentioned he was interviewed for two of the topics so there's more coming up for sure. I don't remember the specific topics though and he said a few were secrets he couldn't mention.

Apparently season 3 is going to have an episode on the XPW. New Jack ep was wild, so this should be more of the same.

How can you have Jake Roberts as one of your sources and not check facts or at least dates (re: Ultimate Warrior)? I noticed that A&E and VICE both aired Warrior stuff the same week and I'm a bit shocked that A&E did the better job.

Also just recently watched the Jake WWE Treasures. Had no idea he still had such heat with Honky from that guitar shot. Sounded like he blames him for his decent into addiction.

Man, that's pretty rough to go as far as blaming painkiller addiction on someone over an accident. Blame WWF for business practices where a wrestler had to just wrestle year-round as soon as physically possible unless they wanted to risk losing their spot.

Then again, Honky Tonk Man seems like an *******, so I can understand pinning everything possible on the guy.

This is from five years ago, but Jake indicates that he doesn't really hold the guitar thing against Honky. But does say that he has heat with Honky over other stuff. He doesn't specify and just says, "he knows what he's done."

They may have edited him incorrectly on the A&E Treasure show.

Funny that he mentions not needing a title because his appearance on the Dark Side: Warrior show essentially revolved around him not getting a title run against Warrior during the summer '91, which is what they should have fact checked, because Warrior lost the title at the '91 Rumble. There was no title run for Jake to be had against Warrior that year.

Jake doesn’t strike me as a terribly honest person, so I don’t discount the possibility of him just putting out blatantly contradictory messages.

Warrior show was kind of an odd decision considering the aim of the series seemed to be investigating scandals and horrible events. Warrior ep was basically "he was kind of a dick and sucked at wrestling". That being said, I'm enjoying all these A&E docs and Vice shows, so didn't mind.

Agreed, Warrior ep was surprisingly the weakest yet this season. A&E's doc was actually better.

Not technically Dark Side of the Ring, but the new Vice/Versa documentary on Chyna is ****ing heartbreaking. Oof. I'm glad Dark Side is on a break until the fall, as this Chyna doc and the Grizzly ep have ****ed me up quite a bit.

I’m surprised at how much of the Dynamite Kid story was new to me. I wonder what the truth really was about Jacque claiming he wrote the note about the mob threatening Dynamite. And they weren’t really clear on why Jacque was attacked in the first place.

The Smith family one...I never understood how Grizzly got away with all that? His activities seem to have been well known for a long time. It’s a wonder they weren’t all as ****ed up as Jake.

Have yet to see the Chyna doc. Because it wasn’t DSotR, DVR didn’t pick it up first time.

Just watched it. Jesus. Guy decides to make a documentary on her 'comeback story' and decides to Heroin and **** with her right before her death. Unbelievable

Last year I interviewed most every WWE HOF that is still alive, and became good friends with the authors who would write their books. They wrestled 350 days a year, lived a crazy life, they almost always would get dates wrong when I talked with them, and obviously they always would get the venue wrong. Some nights they would forget what town they were wrestling in. I think we can give wrestlers a past if they get a date wrong, or work themselves into a shoot and believing what the agent may have told them vs the plans the promoter had for them.
