I got re-interested in TNA when they brought in the ECW guys and was doing the Abyss storyline leading to the ownership shakeup. I actually watched a couple PPVs and 6-7 weeks of tv. They have completely botched it all though, it seems and it is now completely unwatchable. I haven't bothered (or cared) for several weeks in a row now. It still makes me sick that Dixie could have completely turned the industry on its head by bringing Heyman in, but instead has let it go completely down the crapper. So incredibly sad.

2010 was meant to be huge for TNA, but honestly they are worse off than last year.

Ratings are no better, they have a lot of new expensive talent (many come and gone) who are getting paid twice as much as their old talent producing the same results, the X Div title is worth less than ever before, the new TNA heavyweight belt looks like the Divas title, in the past year they have not brought in any new talent that wasnt a star in the WWE (see big paycheques) or looks like they will be around long in 2011 (see Robbie E), the storylines were never good but now they distract from the wrestling which used to be worth tuning in for and finally the entire womens division which used to draw better than the men (seriously) is reduced to Divas-lite.

TNA used to be the best wrestling brand nobody watched. Now its the fairly average wrestling brand that lots of people watched and then decided to stop watching. That company just defines failed opportunity. Jan 4th was huge and pretty underwhelming (though the AJ vs Angle match was epic) and then everything that followed seemed to be fail. I cant think of a single move they made that couldnt have been done better. Jeff's debut was pretty underwhelming, RVD's was more so, RVD vs AJ was a huge money feud that they just blew off, RVD was overused so they had to strip him of the title and write him off TV for a couple months only to return before the next champ had been crowned, Abyss was built as the next big thing given a new gimmick fell flat and then went back to his original gimmick, half the time i couldnt follow who was face and heel until the eventual inevitable full heel turn recently, Christopher Daniels was overpaid so he got fired to save costs meanwhile Scott Hall was somehow getting 10k/show, they brought in one of the Jersey Shore for 15 grand just to sell the Robbie E and Cookie gimmicks and she wasnt even Snookie (the only one famous enough to perhaps justify a 5 figure payoff for one ****ing TV appearance, TV, not even a ****ing PPV!), they created a stable called Fourtune and then put more than four people in it (bahahahahaha), they built up Jay Lethal even letting him get a win over Flair to then put the X Div belt on him only to have him job it out to Robbie E on his first PPV in his first month in the company.

Like seriously, the only and i mean ONLY thing they seem to be doing well on right now is the tag belts. But even in that Gen Me is on $200 a show none exclusive contract whilst being built up as a significant team - you dont promote none exclusive talent whilst also paying them so little that they are easily poached away from you jesus ****ing christ this is basic business here!

agree! starts out wwe-style punchy-kicky but quickly evolves into a very fine match.

alberto got fireworks tonight during his entry. KOTR.

He is a strong contender.

Id say Sheamus is the favourite, followed by Del Rio.

But if i got some nice odds id say the wildcard Daniel Bryan is a good pick too. Keep in mind he is pencilled in to retire William Regal who was the last winner of KOTR so the story basically writes itself.

Sheamus obv stands out as the only former worlds champ, but Del Rio and Bryan are main eventers in the very near future and both using this to springboard them to the top of the PPV card by Summerslam makes sense.

The rest have a good future ahead of them, most will probably main event a PPV or several, but i just dont see any one of the others winning this.

In any case, i REALLY want a Bryan vs Del Rio match. Ideally as a finale. Two seasoned stars outside of the WWE, early in their WWE careers, gimmicks at the opposite ends of the spectrum but both exceptionally good technical wrestlers with a good array of high flying moves too and both with submission finishers. Give them plenty of time and creative input and they could easily pull off a top 5 match of the year. Hell, give me that as a first round and have the winner beaten by Drew McIntire the round after and id take it.

also: since Edge has now taken Paul Bearer across state lines, shouldn't Kane call the Feds?

i haven't watched SD in 3 years, is Edge a face?

silvio, this payroll stuff is around if you tend to read any of the wrestling news sites like 411mania.

Edge is ostensibly a face, character is a tweener, being booked as a horrible person who kidnaps and tortures people.

In fact, and this is pure speculation, I don't see how PG WWE would allow Edge to do this if PB weren't in on it and turning on Kane imo.

sheamus already won a world title. if KOTR is supposed to be a launching pad then the logical option is del rio > bryan in the finals

Well, Bret Hart is the only KOTR winner to have won the WWF/E title before winning KOTR (counting 93'-08', and Booker T only had held the WCW title before it). 7 of 12 won the WWF/E/World/Undisputed title after winning KOTR
